Where abouts are those pics from?
See posts above for further details, but these photos are of Cataract Loop Trail and the high point of Etherington Trail, on the ridge.

FYI......all signal things are headed in the right direction, we just need a big dump of snow to get started packing and grooming.

Looking for more snow soon. we all need it. Those pics are kind of a false reading of what the system has for snow. They were working in a major snow drifting section that's why they were putting up snowfence. Ever get a 800 lb. Skandic SWT and drag stuck in a soft snowdrift??? Snow down at staging area about a inch. Rocks are way larger than the snow level.
Trust us in telling you when it is rideable. Thanks

Needing snow for packing it down
Glen is correct! By the looks of the forecast for the area, we will not get the needed snow to pack down for a while in the valley bottoms, to get out of the parking lots without damaging your sled.

Appears to be some snow coming this Monday, but I am not sure how much. Glen will probably post when snow conditions are adequate to head out to Cataract, but by what I see, we will be lucky to be on the trails Dec. 1, without damaging the machines.

Boy, do I have an itchy right-hand thumb........

We are now just waiting for snow. We have been around the system doing signage and tree removal but its a daily thing. Trees are always falling and getting in the way. Larry Thanks.
Always looking for assistance grooming. Skandics are fun to drive

have not been in the area sledding, worked in the area a bit, will see what the winter brings? not likely i may be of much help in the grooming end? as any trip there will be a day trip type, unless i can get brother -in -law back on sleds, he has a few injuries. will see though.

Book January 14-15, 2017 to be at Cataract! Our Club Ride is Saturday, and our Snowmobile Festival & Poker Rally is Sunday. It is shaping up to be a great weekend, dealers are bringing demos on Sunday, free lunch on the trail during the Poker Run, and people will be camping in the parking lot overnight Friday and Saturday. The warming shack will be stacked with wood to go all weekend.

I'm heading there tomorrow to do some work in the groomer shack. Will check for you. I'm thinking its still skimpy at the start till you gain elevation.
Will post tomorrow night. Don't get to excited yet.
Thanks

if you could post some pictures of etherington staging area that would be great. I'm assuming the creek is not frozen at CC staging area yet

Just got back from taking a drive out to cataract and etherigton staging area. Maybe 2 inch's of snow in parking lots. No fresh from this storm. Two guys were heading out from etherigton and said they would give a better update later. I personally think it's a storm or two away from riding out there. The creek is frozen over at cataract but looks like sleds broke through within the last few days. I do have pictures but I'm sure you can imagine what two inches in the parking lot looks like. Let's pray for Snow.

Sorry guys my work partner couldn't make it today. Tommorrow heading out. I like all the reports that you are giving. Talked to guy in Elkford and he said snow is low over there also. Fording and Alberta snow way up but skimpy getting there. Could only be worse from Alberta side.

Creek at Cataract Staging area needs time and more cold to harden up. We broke thru couple weeks ago. Just a notice guys. Carbides and skis are expensive to replace let alone any other part damaged by rocks. Not a good way to start your season hurting your sled or your wallet just to be the first out there. We promise to let you know when its close. I'm not even beating up the old skandics out there yet.

We went for a ride yesterday, need a good dump for anyone to go out. We did the loop, went skyline and came back. Staged at Etherington, rode in about 2-3" pretty much all the way to skyline, skyline had about 8"

Did you pick up the snowfence and take it to the top of skyline by the logged out area for us???
