Hey all, just getting back into sledding and wanted to know what I required if anything to ride in places like Cataract or Crowsnest like a trail pass or such? Been browsing the forums but haven't seen anything mentioned on passes. I am trying to keep all the other guys and gals who are involved in the community happy!

They do check for registration and insurance now and then at Cataract. I've never been asked for a trail pass; the trails are groomed by the Province, although the Calgary Club pitches in each fall with a trail work bee.

I've been checked for registration driving through the Crowsnest before as well. Most areas that are groomed have a trail fee to cover the cost of trail maintence and all the other costs associated with keeping certain riding areas open.

I found some info on the provincial trail passes, I am certianly not against $60for a season pass to support some of the trail work. Already had the registration and insure done.

polarice - what are these trail passes you mention for blairmore? Is their certain trails in that area you need to purchase their pass for?

I grew up sledding on the East coast, if you ever asked someone to purchase a trail pass they would tell you to get bent! I am all for supporting the trails though I find some of the prices in BC to get a little high when you start adding up mulitple day passes in different areas.

thanks

the trail passes for blairmore are asa passes ..... no special passes required for any trail down there .... but the area where you ride gets a better portion of the monies from the purchase of trail passes if purchased from the club

I believe you will get asked to purchase a day pass trail fee if you ride from the Inn on the Border. They look after their own grooming of the trails from there so the provincial pass does not cover them.

Inn on the border, okay, I would just be driving down from Calgary not staying anywhere in the nest, thanks for the info though.

headin to BC this coming weekend, hoping for lots of fresh stuff!
