These are Transport Canada regulations, and they aren't new. They're just finally being enforced. Great big signs at all ferry landings. Maybe take the time to read one. :D

What difference does it make if I come up with 5 jerry cans and distribute them among 4 other vehicles? There are still 5 jerry cans on the ferry.

I asked that question earlier this summer. The answer actually made sense.

It's a whole lot easier to put out one gas can on fire in the back of your truck than it is to put out 5 gas cans on fire in the back of your truck. :D

Re: Shelter bay / gelena bay ferry

There is a dude on the Crawford side that will talk and educate if he finds extra propane or jerry cans. This is the guy who organized the line-up. I had a small 5# propane bottle kind of tucked in with my blocks for the trailer which were in the back of my truck. Sort of hidden but out of the way. He put the tape on the valve and let it pass. He told me the workers are paranoid about an explosion on the ferry and it is absolutely crazy how they are handling it. What difference does it make if I come up with 5 jerry cans and distribute them among 4 other vehicles? There are still 5 jerry cans on the ferry. I personally think it is just another hassle from the green element regarding motorized transportation in the back country.

When I came across with our move we were loaded to the nuts and pulling the trailer. Unknown to them there were 8 jerry cans and 3 20# propane tanks in with the stuff in the back of my truck. Out of sight, out of mind.
Exactly, what are they going to target next Bic Lighters and the wife’s hairspray bottles!

Re: Shelter bay / gelena bay ferry

So is a heated enclosed sled trailer an rv or a towed trailer?
This summer I crossed from Crawford bay over and was allowed 2 25l strapped to my camper trailer. Then a few days later I crossed over to galena and had to put one in the guy behind me truck. So I’m not sure what the rule is with that. Last winter crossed over to go ride with a buddy in trout and had our jerry cans on the sled tunnels and nothing was said. Those combined aren’t 25l it was 2 cans. Hope this really clears it up. LOL

This is kinda like the airline companies. Weigh your bag and its 3 lbs to heavy? Take 3 lbs of chit out and put it in your carry on. Problem solved. Still the same weight on the plane for gawds sake.

Not a fair comparison. See my previous explanation. Post #22.

Took this ferry over the summer, 2 20LB propane bottles in the camper, fridge on.. no questions

But I did wipe out terribly bad on my onewheel showin' off at the Faquier stop... bleeding and bruised after, plus the destroyed ego lol

Really shocked they didn't ask you if your propane was turned on. Been a standard question for a long time now.

Does anyone have an update as to how long the ferry is running the altered schedule.

Re: Shelter bay / gelena bay ferry

Went across the ferry on Saturday, two trailers and one sled deck with a sled on, no questions asked and numerous jerrycans in the trailer
