I've riden most of the areas around Revy, but never Mtn Begbie. I can make it to just about any area, but have a couple buddies I like to ride with that can't get to more technical areas. What is the access into Mtn Begbie area rated as, and when can you access this area.

Extremely dangerous place as far as access, and Id give it a month before Id even try.

Define dangerous.... avy area, steep chutes, cliff drop-offs, technical area to access.

Thanks for any info

You have to go up the Valley of death for several KM, class 5 avy slopes on either side, you up the middle, open creeks that are DEEP and
side hill your way through the trees for a couple k (if the trail isn't broken) and you are still VERY exposed in the trees.

Nothing really back there but super steep hill climbs any ways. VERY scenic views over looking Revy. I like to ride there 2 or 3 times a season.

Expert riders only IMHO.

Sounds very exciting. I will keep my buddies out of there, but will give her a go with my son in the new year.

Broke a steering post in the middle of death valley once, not a nice feeling being stuck in the bottom of the V. If something comes down you are pretty much done.
Ice off the glacier lasts twice as long in yer rum at the end of the day though

I was there years ago, its does give a great view of the town. Guy I went with took a chunk of the glacier back to his house in Revy for that same reason. Not sure if he was bsing me, but he hauled a piece out. There is some big ass trees in there, well big to an Albertan anyways. Like 6ft trunks, I know BC guys that nothing, but I thought it was cool.

A drink with glacier ice is a bit of a rite of passing to a mountain sledder - good luck on clean ice without grit!

Few years back there was a fairly deep glacier ice cave at the Silver Mines in Golden. The ice was very dense and lasted many drinks. There is something very cool about drinking potentially 10,000 year old water. Just remember the water you drink every day was pissed out by someome or something not that long ago.

Once you get to the Glacier and through many avalanche chutes and run-outs, watch out for crevasses on the glacier! Some are crazy deep. Another reason to wait for lots of snow so that any "snowbridges" have time to set up.

It is possible to make it up the shoulder on the front side but like Carbon said it requires big/ stable snow.
OK, I've been there a few years ago. Awesome once you get in. We went in from the Griffin way.

Yeah that's the normal way in. Which also requires stable snow as you have to traverse "death valley" as discussed above.
