I am torn between a 1000 razor or a 1000 maverick. Any constructive feedback would be appreciated, especially from those who have had experience with both.
I will be doing trails, mud, sand, a bit of everything, looking for a 2 seater. new or very low km. probably go around 60 inch wide. kinda like the LE and the Hilifter models, But want a nice ride as well. hiow do the hilifters ride comapared to a reg 1000 in both models
Thankyou

I own the 64" wide mav turbo .
Awesome machine with zero issues and great performance.
My preference is buy the turbo .
Because :
Upgradable power ( cheaply)
Better clutching
The best shocks
Longer wheel base
Far more wheel travel
Better axle angle
The ability to ride all day in
Either gear range with out having to constantly shift from low to high & back

I am very impressed with the quality of the canam , in particular the turbo .
Total power / smooth and very reliable ....
I ride with a few rzr 1000s and for the above reasons , I much prefer the mav , especially if you are in tight trails ...
Or like to go fast .
Jmo though .

Nice . I drove the xds 1000 and loved it as well . Except it is hard to see out of the x3 anywhere behind your head. Do you every have any issues with belts getting hot or slipping ? And is the clutching better on the turbo than the regular 1000 and if so why ? Different clutch ?

Just to be clear .. mine is a reg mav xds , not anX3.
Yes the mav turbo has a far superior Clutch in comparison to a reg mav .( non turbo )
I have put about 1400k on the original belt , at that time I replaced it but it was as new and still in spec .
Clutching is good . The belt area is not that fun to get to and the cab gets a little hot .
Other than that I have no complaints ... great machine !
I have ridden many miles with several X3s ... awesome machines , but in the tighter trails I prefer the old style ...
That being said the X3s are a true performance beast ...!
But you can buy a leftover turbo 10k cheaper than a X3.
Good luck !

My experience is with the utility machines (ranger vs defender), so not the same machines you are looking at, but can give my take on polaris vs can am. I had nothing but good experience with my ranger. Never gave me an ounce of trouble. But IMHO, the can am is just a better machine. Just better all around quality and fit/finish. I honestly dont think you can go wrong with either. Depends how hard you are pushing them too. We probably arent the best test of a machines breaking point because the majority of the time is spent putting around the farm with the kids.

My rzr 900 xp was a great machine but the front end did use a lot of parts. Ball joints, tie rods etc.

My 2016 Maverick xmr has had rear wheel brgs, front tie rods and second set of brakes now at 3000 km.

rzr was quieter and way less heat in the cab on a hot day. Maverick cup holder can boil you're water bottle.

Both machines are fun to drive. Enjoy whatever you get.

I remember my old artic cat 500 ...lol
No sway bar cause it was sprung so stiff the shocks never moved anyways !

Talk about a back wrecker ....
300k on that thing and you may never / ever ride again .( anything lol)
Buy something with good suspension/ save your back .....

Well just under 2000k on the turbo mav . Looks like I need lowers A arm bushings . Even then / not bad.
Everything else still tight .
Durability of the turbos suspension on the trail is awesome . Great shocks with the ability to take hard hits at speed sure increases the life of your bushings / bearings and front end parts .
Still on original rear brake pads , even .
So far the 4 bushings and a extra belt is all I have done to it ..
And the belt was still in spec @ 1400k
Just thought it best to put a new one on and use original for a spare .

One of the most durable machines I have ever owned ,especially considering the power & speed this machine is capable of...
A lot of people were concerned over the turbo in the mud / water...
Let me say ... zero issues !
Turbo is the way to go ...
Adjustable power for very low $$$!

I will add that I have ridden with quite a few X3s lately and let me say .. WOW they are a beast.
Ido prefer my old style in the tighter trails , but theX3s are quite a machine !
But that's a whole other thread ..

Bought a '18 Highlifter this year after have a '14 Commander and all I can say is wow!!! This thing seems unstoppable. I have pushed it hard and no issues yet. The tires do make it a lot rougher ride but that is something to be expected. A lot less heat in the cab and not having the overheating issues that I had with the Commander
