Just picked up a 2013 PRO RMK 600 155" for my 72yr old dad to ride. Mostly will be trail riding with me and kids or easy riding in the alpine. First Polaris I have ever owned, always been cats or skidoos around here. It is a one owner sled with 1600km on it. Didn't come with an owners manual. I tried searching the forum but its pretty overwhelming... Couple questions:

1. Are the 600's prone to the same lean issues as the 800's? Turn up the oil pump or run some oil in the tank?

2. Whats the deal with the non-ethanol fuel. I usually buy Husky 94 at the local small town gas station for the Cats. Shell is non-E fuel or isn't there a resister plug or something I can switch? whats the best ?

3. How many miles are the Q-drive belts good for?

That's about it,

Thanks.

600 is a solid sled. No need to mess with oiling like the 800’s. As for fuel, I always use Shell 91 because it does not have ethanol. If you run any of the other fuels you should put it into ethanol mode. If I recall correctly 2013 was first year you do it via the gauge. If you google it you will find the procedure. Something about setting the park brake etc but I can’t recall exactly. QD belts good for 2500 miles at least under reasonable use.

Nice reliable sled. My daughter rides a 12 and it has been flawless.

Running ethanol can be changed with one of the harnesses. There's a wire marked Ethanol. On my 2013 800 anyway.

i would check for slider wear. if you need to replace consider adding some boogie wheels especially for trail duty

My 13 Pro you changed fuel modes via the gauge. You have to hold the brake to get the choice to show. The 13's were first year of the Quick drive and Poo went to a better version of the belt in 14. Look closely at the inside cogs, if it's original I bet they are cracking off. The 600's have a solid reputation. I would still turn up the oiler if usage seems low.

600 is great motor but they do not provide sufficient oil in midrange rpm. Turn the pump up if it will be ridden gently on trails. Have been with lady driven 600s that seized on a groomed trail being driven quite easily. Both ended up with lack of oil in the midrange.

thanks for the info guys, I sure seem's light on the oil compared to the old M8. Sure is a nice little sled to ride, lots of snap for the old man...

Do they perform differently with ethanol fuel? I assume this changes the timing?

I snow checked a 13 Pro 600 and never had issues with it. One of my buddies rides it now and still going strong.
I think it's in the 3000+ km range. The original QD belt is still in great shape. I did turn up the oiler from day one so it in the 45/1 ish range. When you first start the engine, watch the gauge and it will show what fuel setting it's in. Pretty tough to tell performance change depending on the setting. We usually run premium on the non-eth setting.
A couple recalls in 2013, the QD bolt and the collar for the driveshaft. Just flip it over and look for a clamp/collar on the main driveshaft to make sure it was done.
A couple other things, keep an eye out on your lower A-arms, some people had issues with the glue. Out of several Pro's we only had one arm that separated.
The Pro does not have the front cooler, so make sure it has scratchers for the low snow trails.
Otherwise, just check over the usual stuff, bolts, grease etc.
