Hi all, I have an 09 Dragon with about 2400 miles. Recently bought the sled as it was in great shape and I was confident the engine was addressed. However, 4 of the 5 rides I took this thing on had flashing service lights or worse. took it to a dealer and they pulled codes, nothing alarming except a detonation limit. Inside a mile on my next ride, shutdown!!! PTO piston gone. I got 99 worrisome miles on this sled!!!
Engine was rebuilt some time ago to the tighter tolerances and longer pistons / skirts. The original owner rode it with a turbo kit for a few years and returned the sled to stock. I have had discussions with him and the shop where the rebuild took place. Now, I have new pistons and cylinder to go back in but I don't want to trailer this thing until I know what happened in the first place. I've been told to check the VR, have injectors tested, re mapping, blah blah.
Piston was melted down at the exhaust side, valves also realized some heat by color. Stupid monobody cylinder is toast of course. New cyls, pistons, rings etc coming from CV tech.
My last resort, anybody have experience like this? ANy feedback will be appreciated.
