Hello im trying to help my neighbour out with his sled. It is a 91 indy classic 500, for the most part it runs good but has a bit of a bog after letting up on the throttle. When trying to pick up speed he sometimes has to feather the throttle until it goes. Doesnt do it all the time and sometimes worse then others. Was just wondering if anyone knows the carb specs for this sled? Pilots, mains, mixture screw settings? Thank you

Pilot jet might be plugged! Take carbs apart, Remove main jet, needle jet, pilot jet clean with carb medic, Blow all ports with air! clean holes on pilot with small peice of wire! Set air screw 1-1/4 to 1-1/2 or till it idles the best. 80 mph!

I would start with the clutch's.....sounds like the secondary is sticking and not pushing the belt up. Its like your in 4th gear after letting off the throttle and the thing has a hard time getting going. Could be a sagged spring in the secondary or primary. Take the secondary apart and clean it and make sure the pre-load is correct.

Right on! Thanks, thats what i was thinking. He said he cleaned them but his cleaning is pulling the bowl off and blowing a bit of air in the jets. Lol, i will pull them off and give them a good cleaning. This sled is in awesome shape, looks new other then one rip in the seat. He picked up 4 sleds for $1000! 91 indy classic, 94 vmax 600 long track, 84 enticer and a 84 yamaha 440, all run and in nice shape. Lucky guy, already sold the enticer for $800, the v max looks brand new also.

Thank you, for some reason i didnt even think of the clutch but that makes sense because it is not consistent at all. Sometimes it doesnt do it at all and other times its really bad. Thank you again.

6F9-3 means the E clip is in the 3rd notch which will be the middle position. All the 500's I had, the clip worked best in the center except at higher elevations where sometimes you would drop a notch.....

Awesome thanks, we got the issue solved, the pilot jets needed a good cleaning and mixture screws were 1/2 turn out too much. Thanks
