I bought a 2018 800 Axys last year and the extra warranty for 4 years, this weekend while riding I broke the quick drive belt. My question is has any one snapped one and if so was it warrantied? In my opinion it should be, if this was a chain drive it would be. My dealer is looking into it right now, said they have only seen 2 break which I find hard to believe.

I don't hear of a lot breaking these days but there is very little teeth in contact with the top gear. Shock loading can strip cogs off the belt though.

What was the circumstances that led to the breakage. Was your track ratcheting ? Hard landing at WOT ?

I’ve had 5 sleds with the QD and I have never broken a belt. There’s always a bad one out there somewhere. The first belts were not good.

Deep powder riding came off a small bump and landed, went to get back on the throttle and no power, belt snapped in half. My dealer warrantied it so that was great news. Had a doo before this sled and had a chain case and come off lots of jumps and hammered the throttle and no issues, might go back to a chain in the future.

I've had 5 sleds with belt drive since 2013, three 800's, all with turbo's and two 850's, as well, I've rode with lots others. I've only seen one fail and it was melted from no heat shield between it and the turbo. Just guessing, you must have had a faulty belt??
I will never go back to chain case...
