I unfortunately had an engine failure at 1400 km with my 800HO SKS. Pto side piston failure and destroyed engine. Luckily had extended warranty and got new engine. When at dealership looking the failure, there were two 800's with exact same failure. One 2016 and one 2017. Trend? not sure but staff not convinced of 800HO engine longevity. Note: I'm a longtime Polaris guy and still have a 2011 Assault with 5800km that is still running strong.(fix kit done at 2k and oil turned up.) 2018 engine got cooling and bottom end oiling upgrades to possibly address the issue and run Polaris extreme oil (flows better).

Mine is a 2016 and runs cool always because it's the SKS(bulkhead cooler) but yes 2018 got upgraded engine cooling also. My next SKS will be 2018+ when my warranty expires.

Great and fun sled to ride thou. Just replace the soft lower control arms and corroded relays.

I have some new replacement relays available for those that need or want spares. $5 each plus shipping or pickup in Sherwood Park. PM if interested.

I must be the only one to get a Friday built sled. 16 Axys 163 on 3rd engine. First one went down on Mag side at approx 1600km. Dealer rebuilt with new crank, and did motor mounts and a new injector harness at that time. Second one made it about 1400km and went down on the mag side again. Another rebuild as Polaris would not authorize a crate motor. Mounts were done again and they also warrantied the pipe because all the insulation was falling out and the clam shell was rattling. Its now my backup sled or sled I ride around home the odd time. Have about 400km on this engine. Will note that I always packed a spare EGT temp sensor because it has failed a couple times on me. Never had relay troubles but have relocated them and clean every season. I put a Kurts gear down and clutching on this one and really happy with the performance and ability, but my experiences for durability have been, dare I say it, the same as my 09 Dragon.

Maybe your oiling system is starving the mag side? Did your dealer look for the cause or just the effect?

I wish my Dragon made it that many miles before blowing up, haha
