Hey guys so I currently own a 2016 2.6 and I am thinking about selling it and upgrading to a 3’’. I’m wondering what’s everyone’s take on these to tracks? I do a lot of technical tree riding and side hilling. Thanks for any input

I had both and the 2.6 is a better all around track, 3 inch works really well if you ride mostly deep powder. I found the 3 allowed me to ride a little slower when picking lines in trees as it great low end grunt and traction. The 2.6 seems a little snappier as its easier to spin the track. The 3 does not stomp the 2.6 in 4 feet of powder as they are remarkably close which was surprising. They ended up close and it comes down to sled set up.

I found the 3” trenches until I set up the skid. The 2.6 gets thing moving but that little extra track makes a difference. 2.8 might be a good all around track, not because of the number but I know a couple guys that went to them with the belt drive.

2.6 is a better all around track, works better imo in most all conditions especially with the power of an 800 riding technical.
3" will trump a 2.6 if you have HP to make it churn and are climbing in super deep and steep stuff.
The 3" will also require more effort in technical as it will tend to hookup too easily instead of being able to spin around when needed.
That is my experience with them and ya i have both on my sleds.

I agree with you and went from a 800 with a 163 2.6" to the 850 with a 174 3" . I hope it has the power to spin the track to make it slip a bit.

I really like the 2.6. gets me where I need to go with minimal effort.
just don't ride too close behind ....she throws chunks on the trail.
