I picked up my new 18 pro and my dealer made sure to tell me how important it was to add oil to the first tank of fuel. He made it seem it was like or death situation for the sled. I took his advice considering they should know what’s good for the sled. I only put half a quart in the tank instead of a full like they suggested. I’ve only put 60 miles on the sled and I’ve blown 3 sets of plugs. Since I’ve called every dealer in Alberta and they all warned me not to do it. Anyone else run into this situation. Where should I go with this issue next.
thanks

Did you read your manual?

My 16 assault manual actually confirms what the dealer told me......adding oil to the first tank or two.

Maybe the 18's are different?

That is strange that they told me not to now that I read my manual, it's in there, premix 40:1 first tank. I didn't, but its in the manual

It will run rich and you will go through plugs until you burn off that tank of mixed gas. Went through 6 plugs on my 2016. Not sure if mixing the first tank is necessary. Sled is programmed to run rich the first few hours anyways.

You do not need to add oil on the 18’s. They have a burn out chip for the break in and it automatically over oils the engine. The bottom end of the map is very rich. I have gone through many plugs on both of my 18’s.

16 and newer do not need oil in the tank. Oil pump is electronic and runs richer for breaking in all years of the Axys. I can’t count how many Axys I’ve seen with issues for the first few yanks because of this. Yes Polaris suggested it at first but it’s no nessary. If you keep fouling plugs and don’t break in rings properly your going to regret it. Engine needs heat and load to break in rings properly.
