Pro's and con's on getting either a 155 or 163 track on my new sled? Opinions or thoughts?

Well you are going to get as many opinions as responders. 155 if you like to ride at full throttle and throw the machine around and 163 if you like to ride a little slower and pick your lines. My boys both love 155. I can't think fast enough so 163 and probably should be 174.

I tossed this around last year so I could make a decision for this year.

I spoke to a lot of guys who have both, they are lucky and can pick what they want to ride depending on conditions. A 155 Axys is light and playful. It's amazing how such a little bit of track on the snow can make a difference.

Having gone from 151,146,154,163 over the years I can say a 163 is more forgiving but as sleds get lighter and track lugs get taller it's sometimes more track than I like because of the playful nature you lose if you like that.

Ski lift is better on the 155, even better on a 155x3. Ski lift helps to change direction and pop over obstacles in the trees. The 163 is planted but overall the sled is better than the previous Proride. I ended up picking up a 163x3 for a good price which I normally wouldn't have considered but a new house was more important this summer.

TDR really put it as simple as possible. You will want to carry more speed on a 155 on deep days and look ahead more. Although if your primary riding isn't as demanding and gives you more space a 154 is great.

I would like to find someone to trade half way through the winter for a 155x3 or 2.6 and then when I go to buy a new sled for 2019 I will have a better idea.

I have a 155, Never really had complains about it, but last season we had a couple epic snow days that were tough going. Most days are not a problem but on the really deep days I would not be complaining if it was longer. The traction difference was really noticeable vs the exact same sled in 163 in that snow.

I ran 160's tracks for the past 10 years or so but wanted to try something different. Went to a 153 3" on my last Cat and that was the most fun I've ever has on a sled. It didn't give up much if anything on the real deep days to the 160's. Picked up a 155 axys near the end of last winter as well. Don't see me going bigger anytime soon. They're a lot more playful than the longer tracks IMO

I bought a 155 3" Axys in the spring. I'm coming off a 163" Turbo. I think I'm in for a learning curve. I will be taking both to the base of the hill so I can pick and choose the ride I want. :D

Last sled I had was a 163 the next sled I get going back to the shorter 155. Had way more fun on the smaller track. I'm not much of a high marker so the playing part is better for me.

And if you get a '18 you get the refinements to heating system changes, and better oiling and seals which should help.

163 track but 8 tooth drivers and big wheel kit out back to make it somewhere in between, (just have to be different)
