Is this common? The brake lever on my 2016 Axys has so little range that I really struggle to pull it far enough to engage the parking brake.
I thought about opening the master cylinder and removing a little fluid, but knowing me, I would then have no brakes at all?
anyone have experience with this?

I would agree mine is difficult to pull enough to engage park brake. I usually have to switch to my right hand to get the strength.

Pull the lever off and file down the contact spot where it touches the master piston.

Remeoving fluid is not going to fix your issue just cause other issues. Mine was like that new then it got easier and easier if you modify ot you may regret it doen the road.

If you ride trees a lot you will have already broken the parking break latch off several times as it rips the hole through the lever when it breaks. After replacing a couple break levers I got smart and just drilled a new hole next to the broken hole. This new hole allows the paring break to be put on without pulling the lever so far.

Thanks for the input everyone, especially the MugMuscles, I think I will do that instead of messing with the lever...
