Tks guys for the feedback. Good luck with Backus in Mira. I had a rear shock go on a new sled with 200 miles on it. End cap on the shock blew apart. I've rebuilt plenty of shocks and the only thing that could be reused was the valve stack. Backus had one on their shelf but wouldn't give it to me on warranty. I had the date stamped wrecked shock on their counter in addition to everything else needed for warranty and all they would do is sell it to me for $550. Biggest bunch of dicks I have ever dealt with. Sent in a formal complaint to polaris about them. Never heard anything back. They are at the top of the take advantage of a sledder list and I wish them nothing but bad luck and bankruptcy.

Try full speed rentals just on the west side of town, they may be able to help you out .

Give Cpt Ron a call @ Powerhouse customs a call in Revy. He is not a polaris dealer anymore, he used to be yrs ago. They build custom sleds, use lots of polaris parts in there builds. He might have a shock or a lead for you. I rather buy a shock & keeping riding then turn around & drive back to Ontario. Have you called your dealer? Maybe if there in the loop, they could help you out when you get home. There is polaris dealers with couple hrs drive of Revy, did you call any of them.

But he's looking for a dealer for warranty, full speed is not a polaris dealer last time I checked

Nope maybe not a dealer and not able to provide warranty but they are always willing to help a guy out.

I know that if I came all the way from Ontario and someone was willing to get me back on the snow I would deal with the warranty issue's back at home at my selling dealer.

Good thing the op ignored your rant and went to backus in Mara his sled was fixed by noon and he on his way to enjoy 3 or 4 days of riding prior to going back east. Very good looking sled and he was treated right by both the boys in Mara and his dealer in Ontario. I suggest you improve your interpersonal skills.

Backus got me running last year on a Saturday afternoon after a crash on Saturday morning. I was back riding on Sunday... wasn't cheap but for afternoon last minute service to save a day of riding I couldn't complain.

Not sure if they went downhill in the past year but this was my great experience from them on my old sled

Thanks for clarifying that you know how things can be overblown on the net

I have been a friend of the Backus's for a number of years. Everett and I both raced back in the day with each other. I can tell you if you walk into his store with attitude and demand he jump to attention for you he will probably help you out the door with his boot. Treat him with respect and he will go to the wall for you. Just my :twocents:

Not saying this was the case with the guy who had the issue because I wasn't there but every dealer will treat people with respect if the same is sent there ways IMO

X2, I have been treated first class every time I have been there. I also have had parts sent on the bus or sent with someone to Revy or were ever I needed them no problem.
For as long as they have been in business out there how many self centred a holes do you think have come through his doors in a panic demanding immediate action, bound to be a few not get served to what they think is deserving of their presence.

Call me a dick whatever. I was there that day and also laid down a couple grand for Pistons and cyls for a CMX that had popped a motor. Then when I asked about my shock he politely told me he had one in stock and it was $550. He gave me a line about how polaris may not cover it since they would probably just rebuild it. He also agreed the only thing to salvage was the valve stack. I never swore at him or disrespected him in any way. I just told him there was no way I was paying for something that's clearly warranty. When I got home my dealer ran a claim through and the track was also replaced in addition to the shock. Had this been you would you ever go back there. By the way the Pistons and cyls were billed out 5% over retail.

The dealer does not have the say whether it be warranty or not. That is a manufactures decision. This also can take a couple of days to decide. Wait and do the warranty process or pay up and continue playing. Your option of course.
