Hey all,

Hoping someone may be able to help me in regards to locating and cleaning the filters for my RMK. Have gone over the service manuals a number of times, and I am unable to locate the air cleaner in my sled in relation as to where they say to look. Currently am assuming as the carbs are under the bottom portion of the front end, the filter would be there as well. Just don't quite know how to access it.

Any thought or suggestions would be appreciated.

if I am not mistaken your sled is EFI and has no carbs. I know the 2005 RMK 800 had carbs but not the 900. yes the air intake is in the front area of the sled and if you don't have an air box you have a K and N filter or something like that on it that would be visible and easy to take off.

The air filter on a 900 RMK are the little filter located on the dash. Black filter material kind of zipped tied to the opening or aftermarket filter material with black or aluminum frames.
The filters prevent snow and stuff from getting into the airbox and the into a chamber that's located under the pipe, connects to the throttle bodies. That's if it's stock.
Some people removed the chamber and replaced everything with K&N filters right at the throttle bodies. Not good IMO because there's an oxygen sensor on that final chamber. When I had my 900, I removed the air intake box and put a K&N on top of the air chamber.

This is where the stock filters are:

This is a simple aftermarket air filter that mounts on the air plenum and retains the O2 sensor.
