Fan problem with my 700 Polaris sportsman

Any info would be helpful.
My fan will just come on for no reason, if its sitting in my garage and has not run for a week it will just come on and the crazy thing is, is that it does it with the key out and the kill switch off.
I obviously know its an electrical problem but if the kill switch is off where is it getting the power from, has anyone heard of this before or or know of someone this has happened to. Iwas originally thinking sensor but if it comes on with the key out and kill switch off it must be some sort of electrical short??

Have you had any luck with your problem, just had the same thing happen with my wife's sportsman, key off, kill swith off, but the fan comes on, almost like having a ghost in the garage.

ecm could be shot. polaris has recalls on them. check your dealer to see of your model falls under the recall.

I have a 2005 400 I just bought Friday and it is doing that same thing - and you guessed it - the guy didn't tell me. It does not fall under the recall either.

Last year I had one of my 09 500's do this a couple times then it just stopped doing it but a few weeks later you could here the fuel injection system cycle with no key in it. Took it to the dealer and they couldn't figure it out either so they replaced the whole wire harness and it solved the problem. Thankfully the thing was still under waranty at the time and they covered it.

I just bought a ECM after work tonight - after everything I read-has to be it. Even the service manager at the Polaris dealer here in Houston - I told him fan and he said ECM>. $129.99 +tax. go to Polarisindustries.com and check the recall list.
