Another Delivery from Santa for Peace River Area Snowmobile Club
The Peace Valley Snow Riders received a second early Christmas gift. The first gift took place
last week when the Club was advised by Alberta Sustainable Resource Development (SRD) that
the 24 mile Leddy Lake Trail had been approved. The second gift is associated with the first
announcement. The Alberta Snowmobile Association (ASA) Trail Committee has given the local
Club $10,000 to be used to develop this trail. Monies will be used to mulch the 10 to 15 foot
wide trail with signage to follow closely. This gift confirms ASA’s commitment to the local Club
and to trail development in the area. As work is continuing on identifying a network of trails in
the area, the Peace Valley Snow Riders anticipates further announcements in regards to trail
approvals as the winter continues.
The Club welcomes volunteers to assist in trail development and in particular encourages those
with snowmobiles to join the Club. The cost of membership is currently $80 annually (cost
increases on January 1) which includes $60 for an ASA Trail Pass and $20 membership in the
local club. The ASA Trail Pass, which is recognized on any ASA trail in the province, supports
liability coverage for trails along with development and maintenance costs. With the above
mentioned gift, snowmobilers in the area are assured of value for their membership.
Membership can be purchased at Maximum Powersports, Thomas Homes & RV Centre and Ace
Machining & Welding. Those wishing to volunteer or to have a tour of the trail can contact Tim
Lagace – President at 780-618-7864 or Dwayne Buchholtz – Trail Identification Committee Chair
at 780-618-1504.
