so fter a summer on the ariens how was it? whos engine is in it?
i need a new ride and looking at another deere or a cub cadet. possibly a husqavarna. i dunno wondering how they all are working.

also on the fence as to stay small or go to the bigger ones with a loader and mower, tiller etc......:d but not sure i want to drop 20g on a new lawn mower when i could just get a couple goats.

It worked great for the first summer, and looking forward to another one this year. It sparked right up after I put the battery back in, and gave it some new fuel. It has a Kohler engine, and it is pretty quiet.

After buying this one, for the $$$ range I was looking at. I would do it again, just not from HD. LOL

You can never go wrong with a JD(but make sure that that model does accept attachments, not all doo). Cub cadet is good, so is Craftsman. I haven't seen many huskys. Toro also has a larger line as well. Kubuto...nothing bad to say here, other than I don't own one...............

The problem I have seen over the years is you can save a bit of money up front by buying a lawn tractor from you local hardware store....like Cdn Tire, or Home Hardware, or even Sears......But.....eventually you need to fix it.....I don't care what brand it is....it will eventually need some repairs....That's where the frustration starts......:tearhairout:

You head down to the local hardware store and find out that they may carry replacement blades or a belt but that is probably it......anything more and you usually get the "deere in the headlights look" because they have no idea what you are talking about.:dontknow:

Pay the extra money and buy that brand name from a dealer because you will get the support that comes with it in the years to come. Be it a Deere, Kubota, Toro, etc....worth the little bit extra when comes to after sales parts and service.:thumbsup2:

This is why you see 30 year old John Deere's still cutting grass.....parts have been available.
:beer::beer:

coincidently two years in a row I have problems with my ride on to the point they replaced it last summer after only 17 hrs on it (after a lot of calls and screams :). Used the replacement twice this year and now the cutting deck wont engage and it is in for warranty :realmad:. Unfortunately at the time I could not justify paying $4000 bucks plus to buy a better quality mower and now stuck with the pos Yard Man mower which was $2,200.00. Anyway, to my surprise MTD which manufactures this brand also does so for JD, Craftman, Husq., Toro to name a few. The warranty shop guy said he has been in the business for 25 years and MTD has slowly cornered the market by producing these brands under each owns name.....and they are all getting worse in quality which are built in China using cheap stamp metal and plastic parts. There are about 3 different companies doing the same in N.America. Now that I know this I will definitely spend the bucks for a better quality because each time it goes in 3 weeks goes by.

thats what i was led to believe as well such is the reason you can get a jd at any home depot now. they are all built in the same pos factory in china and painted a different color once they arrive.
i already killed a jd with the pos kawi engine inm it and will never buy another tractor with the kawi in it. impossible to find parts at a reasonable price or timeline to get them.
such is the reason i am looking to go new now, strongly looking at the higher end cub cadets withthe kohlers, but would really like a small tractor with loader, mower, and tiller. :confused::confused::confused::confused:
all depends how much funding i want from the bank of wife to build a garage this summer.:rolleyes:

As a matter of fact the repair shop had a JD there and aside from a couple different options it was the same frame as my yardman. Apparently, the JD of the world used to produce their own tractors but could not justify the cost anymore maintaining a production line so they went with a private label manufacturer like MTD. The guy told be as a rule of thumb go with commercial grade and you cant go wrong. Just have to squeeze a few more bucks out of you wife's bank account :d:d
