I'm probably 3 years behind the times but I signed up for Spotify today. So far I like what they have to offer, haven't been unable to find a song yet, play through my phone or computer via Bluetooth and can save my libraries for offline use.

Anyone use Spotify or any other streaming service, good? bad? advantages/disadvantages to different services.

First 30 days is free on Spotify and then it is $9.99/mth I can add up to 4 additional friends/family for $5/each per month.

I was used to just downloading torrents until the crack down but I can see the advantages to a service like Spotify and $9.99 is SFA really.

Re: Music Steaming Services

I've used Rdio, completely free but you can only skip songs 6 times (I think) before you have to listen to the next song. I found if I changed genres or play list though, I was able to get around the "6" limit. There is an ad based (free) version and a paid version (never tried). I have also tried Songza and I don't think it lasted 11 minutes on my phone before I uninstalled it. I may be wrong but it seemed to be 100% hip-hop crap I couldn't stand.

Spotify free service is the same, can only skip so many and there were commercials every 4 or 5 songs. has all genres and boasts a 20 million song library. I played with the free service for a week and then decided to try it out. I like the idea of having everything on my phone because all my stereo's are blue tooth now (except the boat but that comes this spring) so I can take it anywhere... that's where the offline option is nice

Sounds similar to Rdio... just be sure you don't forget when you are streaming or you can eat through a data plan pretty damn fast. Or connect to WiFi everywhere and anywhere you can.

Are there other genres than dance/EDM/Hip-Hop, and I just missed them, or is that your type of music?

Re: Music Steaming Services

I search and load all my songs at work or at home on wired interweb then set them all to offline. My understanding is this should not eat data but we will see, if I burn through too much data our IT dept will let me know.

Some of the guys at work speak very highly of Google play music too. I'm playing with Spotify right now, it seems OK but I'm only using the free trial version right now

That's not nice Tyler. How many other peeps on here can say they saw Hank Williams Sr perform in concert.
Pretty sure he saw Hank Sr when he was Hank Jr's age

I have an Amazon Prime membership which gives you full access to Amazon Music. It doesn’t have everything but it does have a huge amount of content. Took me a while to figure out how to download music within the app to be able to play offline. Since I figured that out, it’s great. I have the app on my and my wife’s phones and there’s no additional costs to have it on multiple devices. $80/year for free quick shipping and free music. Seemed like a better deal than anything else out there.

I haven't reviewed my account at all lately but I didn't subscribe to Amazon music, I have an Amazon Prime account that gives me access to music. The selection is really good for the 80/year i pay that also gives me access thru the music app. Maybe there is a different pay structure and content if you subscribe to an Amazon Music and Amazon TV account. Ill have to look into it.

I have the spotify app at the moment on trial to see how i like it. I may give the amazon app a try and see what their selection is like for my music likes. I love how every app advertises its free until you need to listen offline. Looking to replace my sirius radio due to billing issues and my unit is starting to dye
