Went for a ride around Owlhead today. Need snow. Lack of grooming made for a rough trail in and out.

Rode Saturday and Sunday. Went towards the South found some bumper to headlight deep along the trees. Saturday was fogged in but Sunday was good

Rode family day despite late start trail was smooth. Played in the cut blocks closer to blue as well as a romp in the trees. Headed to owls over skinny down to video and hit the trees again was snowing at 230.

Staged from owlhead yesterday. Not much fresh close to the cabin. Although, there was more in the trees. Went over skinny ridge and dropped into the bowl by mara mtn lookout. Definitely more fresh snow there. Blue skies until 2pm made for a really nice day.
Which brings me to my question: what's the best route to ride up to the lookout? I know it's possible. Seen old vids on ytube of guys do just that.

If you climb up Avalanche alley from Morton lake and go through the little draw area when it opens up a bit turn left and work your way up by a route of your choosing.

Or go past Morton about a km and its a easy climb up the south side with sometimes decent sledding on the way up! This is the old guys route!

Can you point out avy alley on google earth? I don't know the area well enough to establish the route based on your description.
