I think that building would be a great location for powersport rentals, parts and service. Who cares about having an OEM flag fluttering in the breeze. The only way to make a million as a oem dealer is to start out with at least two million, and who really wants to be a puppet with the oem pulling your strings anyhow!!

I don't think the dude who started this has much of imagination and has more money then brains.
There is alot he could do but it would require work and thinking out of the norm.
A rental shop would be one thing but not just sleds, it has to be year round and draw from out of town, cause the local populant in Sicamous don't have the coin to support that type of business.
An Avy/marine/out door course center. Guiding services, sledding, atv, fishing, summer and winter.
"Custom" sled and ATV/SxS work and builds.
Advertise, advertise, advertise year round.
Ya i know its easy to post on the net, but imo it looks from the out side he just gave up because it didn't work his way.
Maybe the employees should pickup the business on their own, make a deal with him?

You can't forget, one HAS TOO throw bikes in the mix. Road and off road. If your too narrow minded you will screw your self over.

anyone who puts the cart before the horse is doomed to fail, too bad others got caught up in his dream or lack of foresight! still lots of opportunity for someone who can think outside the box.

living in the area I thought it was going to be a pretty sweet thing to have mpm especially with the hours they ran but iv seen a lot of buisnesses come and go over the years and I thought this place was a little over the top for the area but indeed a sweet set up. I had one real shaty experience at mpm tho that left me on the fence.... but to try and build an empire without securing the back bone first doesn't make good business sense to me. another thing that hurt them is they priced themselves out of the market for rentals by like 1/3 what some others want for a day. $450 for a sled is out of my budget and I almost choked when they were going to rent side by sides for $850 a day. I get that the price of machines continue to climb but that's not practical for an average guy. a person has to run a fairly creative business to survive in this area and do some things out of the norm. the 7-7 hours was a good start but I see a lot of overhead and not enough customers. itll be interesting to see what moves into the building next.

with the possibility of it being a brp I was leaning towards changing flavors but with the ongoing 850 issues and this Im thinking poo not doo now, for the wife atleast....I see a sidewinder in my near future now

Renting or selling or servicing hang gliders and doing Avy courses and maybe sell paddle boards and canoes. Lots of people in that area are not just into Power-sports . They can’t afford it. So an alternative would be anything outdoor recreation. Sell water wings for Christ sakes who cares.

Ya know why we had higher rental rates than all others, same as shop rates

Was to not be in direct competition with the other shops in town, so no bad feelings as we got stuff from them and visa versa

So Banner is buying the shop?
Banner comes into Sicamous and they will get 0 support. Ride another brand before dealing with them or drive to Alberta like I do now.

That's a lot of speculation. Nobody knows what the real reason is that he shut it down except him and his manager. Just a lot of rumors that it was BRP that did it.

I liked the 2 for 1 snowbike weekday rentals. Our groups last day in Sicamous we were going to take MPM up on it for me and a friend as we had two bikes in our group until we found that both yeti's our guys were riding had damaged their skids.

Not speculation, they came right out and said it on Facebook.

Did MPM try and get a polaris or cat dealership?
Backus has a lock on the Polaris situation in the area and Salmon Arm and Vernon both have very good and well respected Cat dealers. Only thing that may be available is Yamaha which would have been a great fit with their boat and wave runner lines.

Keep hearing rumours they're shutting down, starting to think there might be something to it but who knows. I think in the past they made a lot doing custom builds and their own kits but that seems to have dropped off drastically.

I've been hearing those rumors for awhile now. That being said, they would still have to be bought out to open or move dealership. Kinda what I'm Think happened with MPM. For a franchisee the local usually gets first option to open another store if market share allows. Tim Hortons would be a prime example. Local owners get dibs on a new store within their area first before an outsider can open another one. Would stand to reason that Banner, whether they are good or bad would be asked by BRP if they would like another store in their area before giving another entity the option to open a dealership. I'm kinda assuming that's what has happened here.

More like the regional dealer protested against any one else. Don't want to lose sales but reality is customers are Alberta riders that sled in Sicamous/Revy area and they will buy sleds at home. They wont be buying Fawk all from Banner.Just the way it is.
