We were out to do the real estate run and ended up a little disappointed. Some lots in Siccy but no LNG and a raw lot in Malakwa but again no LNG. That scares the crap out of me for utilities. Our hydro has gone from $900 to $2300 per year and we mostly heat with wood here in Elkford. I heard from a guy who paid $1400 for the months of July and August running an AC system and hot water with electricity. There is LNG on the Salmon Arm side of the lake and in the Vernon area. Lots/houses are cheaper in Malakwa but the further south you go the more expensive. Salmon Arm has the amenities and is only a 15-20 minute drive to Siccy. Lots of variation in SA from the $300G's to millions. if you want to get creative and get off the grid, have a look at Seymore Arm.

Sorry I missed you Doug, busy at work and around home with the little one. Are you looking at moving out this way or just a rec property?

Elkford is a little short on amenities with old age encroaching. So yes, we are looking at options and SA is in the forefront; close enough to sledding and recreation and yet a big enough city to satisfy shopping, eating out, things to do, and of course medical. We only want to move once more........

In the Elk Valley, Cranbrook is the nearest medical (2 hours away) for anything serious, amenities are lacking other than a little in Fernie and that is 40 minutes away. One of these years, the decision has to be made. It is nice to come back to a quiet place with not a lot of tourists!

Seems high. I heat 3000 sq ft living space and 26 x 40 garage. All electric. Heat pump/ac for house and electric mi cable in garage slab, electric hot water and cooking. Hydro bill for last year was 2500. Similar home I had in Calgary was around 5000 a year for utilities.

I love the lifestyle SA offers, and the hospital is one of the highest rated small hospitals in the province. Also one of the few places in BC you can somewhat easily get a family Dr. Real estate has been climbing sharply but is still much more affordable than elsewhere in the Okanagan with similar services. Sicamous is quite a bit more affordable again but as you stated no NG, no hospital and the winter drive to SA can be chit usually with at least a couple fatality closures. SA is the best move I have ever made, my folks recently retired here as well from PG and love it.

Public hot tubs??????

I recall 130$/night for the double bottom and another $65 for the the single top. Hot tub belongs to the triangle cabin. Not sayin theres no weiner water but the bedding is like sleeping on a cloud. No alcohol was consumed prior to sleeping.

Just kidding

I know I drained it and shut the breaker off when I left on Saturday. Not many beer left either. Boat is insured and the steering is stiff
If things change for you, come west and let's meet up for a beer or 18
