At the 4 min mark it states if you have a shovel on tunnel then you are quicker to do a rescue for he says you don't have to remove back pac you will have your shovel and beacon, and it's safer for you as you will always have your pac on. imo this is a little bit of a sales pitch for you still need your probe for the rescue so stating your quicker by not having to remove pac when you still have to remove pac for your probe. Yes I agree if you put a shovel on the tunnel it should be a good one as well as the one in your pac, cheap shovels should not be there, but in event of rescue you still need a probe

I carry two shovels and two probes. One set is on my sled and the other is in my Avy pack.

My current main shovel is a BCA B52 bomber shovel. Made in Taiwan, super strong and fits on the exterior of the BCA MtnPro tunnel bag.

The shovel off your tunnel bag is quicker every time. You will use it more for stucks and to help people as well which is what you do hopefully most of the time. Yes it is true to get at your probe you must get into your pack, this really comes into play with only one or two rescue'ers and hopefully you have more. As with more there will be probers and then diggers ready to go. I also carry a probe in my tunnel bag so I can use it more and quicker to test layers and see hope deep the snow is. This is not a sales pitch this is advancement of the sport.
