Official tumbler ridge area 2011-2012 season activity

I suppose the only other thing to note is that the weather has been highly volatile, and conditions have changed literally from day to day. The warm weather we've had and will continue to have all this week will cause the snowpack to consolidate, but there's still fairly high avalanche danger...

Official tumbler ridge area 2011-2012 season activity

I was in GP this weekend, where there was a lot more snow falling there than here. There was some new snow, but the biggest thing that happened was the wind. I heard that a group had to spend the night up at the core lodge because the roads had drifted so bad, but I haven't heard from them. If...

There's a couple links to Google Maps in this thread: https://www.snowandmud.com/forum/f189/distance-dawson-creek-core-lodge-57063.html#post1304417. If you need them, that is.

I can put you in touch with BJ, who is selling memberships (not trail passes, as such), if you like.

Avalanche Forecast for Northern Rockies? You can help make it happen

Sledders: There has never been a proper avalanche forecast for the Northern Rockies, including Tumbler Ridge. Why is that? Because the forecasters at the Canadian Avalanche Centre don’t have the data they need to create an accurate picture of the area’s snowpack and weather conditions. But...

Anyone get out this weekend? The fellow who usually tells me what conditions are like got food poisoning and wasn't able to get out.

I might be able to hook you up with some locals, too, though I am not going to be around. Let me know if you don't find anyone.

    Elevations in Tumbler Ridge

The town itself is at 830 m. Core Lodge is at 1349 m. Top of the Back Bowl is 1895 m. Some of the really high ridges are upwards of 2000 m, but most are not accessible by snowmobile.

There was about three inches of snow in town yesterday. Don't know how much that'll translate to in the mountains, but I'm going to go out on a limb and say there's at least three inches of fresh snow there, too....

We've had some snow in the last few days, but I don't expect it's enough to rescue Bullmoose, especially with another blast of 50 kph+ wind today. The Core Lodge has really settled in and riding is great, as long as you stay out of the trees. Elsewhere, I haven't had any reports yet, but I...

No problemo. Best to email me (tourism@dtr.ca) or track me down on facebook (visittumblerridge), as I don't always get alerts to conversations happening over here....

In addition to the wind mentioned by tfreddy, warm weather has also been hard on lower elevation areas (not that many people come here for the lower trails, but still...). There is only a bit of snow remaining on the ground in town. While it started snowing about five minutes ago, forecast is...
