i have a 141 skid. depending on what your putting it in you could easily set it back to allow a 144 track. shipping north of the border may be cost prohibitive.
check the joint between the speedo cover and the driveshaft. sometimes an indication of a bearing going bad if its broken. sometimes an easy fix, sometimes it can be a bugger.
what year is your sled? there were some common failures on stators with some years at around 3000 miles. yamaha corrected them at some point. i have never had any luck with aftermarkets or cheap stators, probably why the rd one failed so quickly. feedback on having yours rewound would be...
part of the problem could be the roller diameter, springs are cheaper. funny thing on the mtn maxes is they have a high engagement by design. you might try tossing in a yellow/green/yellow in there and see what happens.
my 600 mtn max isnt available right now, but it has the 8DG weights. i...
done correctly, it will easily pull the 162. problems you will encounter will be track fitment unless you drop and roll the chaincase, assuming the 162 is the 3" pitch. lug height may need to be altered along with new drivers. next issue to consider is the tunnel extension and making it rigid...
very doable on that machine, but you may not be happy with the end results. best is to reconfigure the suspensions geometry to the 2000 and up specs. you can achieve this by relocating your stock skid in the tunnel and moving the front arm on the rails. your sled will work much better than...
the skids arent really the same as the 141 mounts further back from the driveshaft and the pivot arms are located differently on the rails. the 97-99's can be altered to bring them to 2000 specs using the 136 rails and relocating mount points.
the ignition change was more for the higher output...
the crank bearings were updated(stronger) in 98 or 99 otherwise that engine has remained the same over the years. a higher output ignition along with the dual headlight setup was used on the 01.
there have been reports of the pre-2000 models having driveshaft issues as well as steering post...
