You're right.. I really wish I was not a full time sled bum, shredding pow in Sicamous all winter long... That really starts to get old after a while. All that snow in my face going down hill all winter has really started to suck. I wish I had a job spreading marketing BS for a corporation...
Since Norona is making condescending accusations toward you which is really professional for a "ski-doo backcountry expert", I will chime in.. Yes, you are right Rene has been testing a different inner half. I am not sure if it is the production cast version or the UHMW version they were...
I hope it all comes together.. These sleds are so awesome, it would be nice to see them work the way they should and be able to not have blowing a belt in the back of your head.
I very much look forward to your videos explaining the technical changes to the 18's motor mounts and clutching.. I do have first hand knowledge of one thing though. The new belt! I was one of the testers for the new belt this winter and it only lasted 403kms before cords were hanging out of it...
Well 10 of those were Gates carbon belts, so technically they don't know about those ones.. After the first one grenaded on the first deep day I knew I was in for trouble and that's when BRP was saying no warranties on belts, so I had to come up with a solution quickly and that's when I bought...
Good question! I have a good answer for you.. I was lucky to be helped by Gates belts this winter and worked with the local representative to gather some info on what was going on with the carbon fiber belts on the 850's.. I was asked to keep track of exact mileage of each belt until failure, so...
I get the idea of the demo program, but they are losing out on guys like me.. My 17 has been a belt nightmare all season. I have blown 11 belts with 3300kms and #12 will not last another day. For me, if I had have popped the clutch cover off of that 18 prototype and found changes and much cooler...
Those prototype 18's are sure not going to give much confidence to propesctive 18 buyers.. They have nothing on them that the production 18's will have and the clutches are still smoldering hot! I am amazed that they would let those sleds out for demo season with no improvements over the 17's. I...
I have a G4 154" x 3" and it is definitely the sled for me as far as handling. Yes, it is a handful to ride as it's nature is to slide and wheelie lots. Those are traits I specificly look for in a sled.
The bad and I mean really bad part of it is the way it eats belts! I ride in Sicamous area...
I let my limiter out one hole from the factory setting and that actually helped on steep climbs.. Doesn't wheelie much more that way, but keeps the skid more planted. Front and rear springs are cranked as stiff as they'll go except for the front skid shock. I need stiffer, better suspension...
There is a big difference! I have a 154" and my buddies all have 165"s.. My 154" wheelies more, it slides the tail more and does not climb as well and chew out of stuff like a 165" does. 165"s also hold steep sidehills easier and does not slide out as easily. You can stop in dumber places on a...
I have a 154" and all my buddies went with 165"s. I always had 144"s before so I never even thought to go 165". I am only 165-170lbs, but for me the fun factor is not the same on the longer sleds. My sled wheelies and slides where the 165"s don't. It just feels way looser in general which fits...
I don't think that the way these sleds are blowing belts is a clutching issue.. I have gone to a stiffer secondary spring and a LOT more arm weight and while performance is without a doubt better than stock and heat is a down a little bit, my clutches are still waayyyy too hot.. I don't think...
