Electric starters are pretty reliable it seems, and you always have the emergency rope that goes on the flywheel option if you do have any electric starter issues. Personally I would skip putting the recoil option on, but that's just my opinion.

I got the 174 and have no regrets, almost chose the 163 and I'm glad I didn't.

Measured this on my T3. If you aren't sure where I measured from on the plastic trim let me know and I'll try to find a picture to illustrate. Mine is not in a good place to take pictures right now.
