Check your primary for binding, remove spring and put cover back on and make sure moving smooth and no excess play in face bushing. Checking crank runout wouldnt hurt either, cat cranks are pretty tough but have seen some get thrown out of alignment from a belt explosion.

Re: M8 174. It’s finished. Looks great, just starting to do my 2013 with a Conquer 280 174. 174 in the deep is night and day over anything shorter. Hope the 280 works close to the 3" Powerclaw 162 on my 16. If it does it should walk all over my 16 in deep snow.
