  • How does the Aftermarket fit in with the 850 ?

Aside from the 2017 belt issues that BRP has already put out a communiqué that they are addressing, the aftermarket has been an integral part of the snowmobile industry. Rooster Built supplies Deep Snow Boondocking clutch calibrations and currently testing the 850 kit.

MTNTK provides the Blowhole for additional venting. iBackshift brings some of the best CVT resources made available online. C&T PowerSports has Custom Made Tools and Accessories.

All clutch and vents kits have the same things in common. They target specialized types of riding whether it be Deep Snow Boondocking or Lake Racing. BRP does not publicize that their Box Stock setups to be adequate for all types of riding and conditions. BRP Racing has been explaining the need for different Driveline calibrations and venting for as long as they have been selling their Race Manuals.

If snow tends to stack in the left footwell blocking the belt heat exhaust, a Blowhole may be the ticket.

"I've got roughly 150 km on the blowhole now. It rocks. Used a temp gun to compare clutch temps across three sleds, same conditions, mine were 1/3 cooler on average. I also added more venting today to help with the heat, thanks Idahoo and MTNKT"
Look at what needed to be done on the F1100 Turbos to keep the belts from blowing. In the first link HRP says that their Link Arm keeps the belt temps under 150F. They also claim that it greatly improves belt life especially in deep snow conditions. It paints a clean picture of the importance of belt alignment.
