I am a horse owner here in Eastern Canada, and I have been following this story for a few days and I am thrilled to see the national and international attention that it is getting.

I just cannot say enough how wonderful and great all of you are. I don't sled, but my brother does, and he lives in BC and although he does not ride horses, I know that he would have been there helping out too.

You have given me back some of my faith in humanity, and in the goodness of everyone. I am so thankful to each and every one of you and wish you all the Merriest of Christmases and a wonderful, bountiful New Year!

What an amazing Christmas story.......I've read all of the posts and this story is nothing short of amazing! My hat is off to all of you that have helped in so many ways! But especially to the first person who saw a need to help these horses and with your efforts it opened the door for others to follow in your footsteps and lend a helping hand in whatever way they could.......It only takes one person to take a stand and make an incredible difference!!! Folks I don't think there is anything that can be said that has not already been said in the last 29 pages of posts! Great job to all, just wish I could have made the trip to help. I have been coming to McBride for the last 4 - 5 years to ride and the response from the community in this instance is no surprise. Congrats to all!

I have followed this story from start to finish and all I can say is thank you!! I showed this story, reports on the news, and photo's of the horses, volunteers too my 2 girls and they were moved by this! To all of those who were out there digging, the ones who donated, and all the support people to help pull this rescue off. You have just made this Christmas that much more Merrier!! Thank you!!
My 2 girls felt they should draw a picture of the story...so here it is.

I just watched the ctv edmonton news. The "owner" of the horses was interviewed anonamously. Go to ctvedmonton.ca to see the story. He is probably going to get his horses back???? I don't think he should be alowed to have animals.

Well if the owner gets them back, it would be the biggest mistake made to date. I know he says that tried to get them, but not once he had come out to help dig with everyone this week. Don't give them back.......

He is probably going to get his horses back????

Do you know who is responsible for making the decision regarding whether he gets the horses or not? If someone could post contact information, I bet more than a few of us would be happy to call or email to voice our opinions. :nono:

I say a deal with be struck.

Owner will sign over the horses.

Charges will not be pressed.

OK Here we go...First of all,MERRY CHRISTMAS everyone!I only heard one side of this story;what I read on here.But it sure sounds to me like this guy abandoned these horses on a mountain to fend for themselves and a bunch of selfless volunteers went waaaaay out of thier way at a busy time of year to dig a trench in 6-7 feet of snow for approx.a km. then walked these horses approx another 30k? to where they could be loaded on a trailer.....
Now I hear he might get these horses back?????????????I sure hope I heard that wrong...Anyway this is just a half schnapped rant on Christmas Eve.

Mike, there's nothing wrong with that. Thanks for your post.

People in the world want to know who 'cares'. They want to know who they can depend upon. The 'vehicle', in this case, horses, shows compassion is alive and well in McBride, as well as surrounding areas. This community believes in responsibility, and will act, without permission, when the someone's bar has been lowered below less than expectation.

The Internet allows connectivity of good deeds. And, if it should expose those who lack responsibility, I'd say that is good, also. We ALL know the difference.

I am sure that we (canada) do have an AWARD for ACT`S of this kind.I think that all that were involved with this rescue have to be AWARDED. AS you can see bye this thread that it has effected a LOT of people. It has touched a lot of xmas tree`s and rocked a lot to. Thanks to all of the people involved with this GREAT out come to the story, Thanks for looking after our PONNIES.
