Any time I have gone the creek is always a little open 3/4 of the way up. Personally with the layering of the snowpack due to rain and warm temps and the number of avalanches I have seen in the past I am staying out this year. Only been in there about 5 times but every time I have seen the aftermath of some substantial slides either by the lakes and even at the top of the creek where you take a right and go a couple hundred yards through the small trees into the bowls that overlook the lakes - slides were in the bowls.
Nice area to ride but lots of run areas that slide every year. I usually never went until mid Feb like now.
Roll of the dice when you go to Horsey, more so this year.
Not the update you were looking for but........my:twocents: on Horsey

Went in Jan 30, waterfall was tricky, very hard and slippery. Couple small slides in valley. Great snow then but I'm sure its changed by now.

Thanks for all the info folks...we never went in last week for all the same reasons. the creek up is surely a very tricky option a lot of times and we figured that with the conditions we saw at Allen and Clemina, it would've been especially dicey.
