Kanedog 2015-2019, thanks for the good times S&M!
Share your Whistler pics and conditions right here. Rub it in the Hurtin’ Albertans faces
Our club doesn’t have a webcam so Whistler ski area webcam will suffice for our purposes, 6,500 ft.

It’s accumulating but not quite enough for a confident no land mines kinda feeling. More snow is on the way. The pic is nearby Brohm Ridge snowmobile area, 45 mins south of Whistler. This could be the last year of Brohm Ridge as there is a ski resort being built there. Many good times were had in this cabin. It’s a smaller area but oh so good. The big area pic is Brandywine.

Pretty sad start to the season on the coast.

Not sure the Albertans are hurting much compared to us, hell the sledding right by Calgary at Cataract Creek is probably the best it’s been in years. Pretty sure there has been more snow at our place outside a Calgary then on the hill at Whistler. Slow start this year, hope it catches up.

Is that ski hill a done deal?

It’s like the Trans Mountain Pipeline project. Not yet but soon. It’s in the final stages of approvals, everyone knows it’s going through, the crusty locals hate it(understandable as it will change Squamish forever), the opposition kinda fizzled out, no advertising yet. No shovels in the ground yet and Sledders are still enjoying the Brohm Ridge plentiful snow deepness.

That was my best politician answer. Hope that helps.

Any update on Brandywine? Thinking of riding tomorrow and deciding between Brandy or the Coq. Where is staging at Brandy? Temps are still warm down low.

I don’t know where the staging is. It’s 6ft of deep fluffy no base. Nobody got out of the Brandywine meadows. Tons of stuck sleds. Reports should be coming in tonite and Sunday.

staging is from the bottom, the tour company has started grooming. It was groomed to Brandywine bowl only, doubt very much you could even get to Chocolate yet, that side hill where the cat usually builds a road is probably bottomless except for the boulders.

Brandywine Trail is a mixture of rock and snow near the bottom and on a few of the more exposed areas thru the first switchback. Incredibly whooped out by days end yesterday, but it was BUSY. Meadows are tracked out, sides are getting packed in, snow has settled some so not quite as bottomless.

There is new snow with more on the way. Avy risk is high for all elevations. The safest riding is currently flat riding. There’s not much flat riding in Whistler area.
I say we need another 5ft+ to bridge the crevasses and cover hidden obstacles. Some people are riding the glacier but I wouldn’t just yet. If travelling from far, maybe let things settle out for a bit. I would recommend Mcbride instead for now. Happy New Year!

Yes, staying away today, but thinking of heading out Sat or Sun in the lower meadows of Brandywine. More worried about the trail in than the actual meadow area.
