I just heard through a friend of someone who stewards the trail in that area that the government is going to start ripping up the iron horse trail to run some sort of pipeline to Cold Lake. I guess the idea is that it is the cheapest way for them to run the pipeline and they have not given any indication that the trail will be restored afterwards.

Has anyone else heard anything about this?

Haven't heard anything. I know that the water pipeline from Cold Lake to Fort Kent runs in that corridor. Talk of Bonnyville getting Cold Lake Water. Possibly that's what is happening. If so the agreement would be to restore the Iron horse to that state it was in before the pipe line. That's what happened when they ran the line to Fort Kent.
