So now that the consultation period for Castle has come to a close, what do we do next? What can we do next?

How do we expose Notely for misleading the public regarding her support for pipelines to the West when she clearly and openly supports Y2Y, an organization who would strongly oppose any pipeline running through the Y2Y corridor?

We continue to send emails, try to get media attention etc.

But most of all we kick their sorry asses out of office in the next election, that is how we send the biggest message.

the last one was very poorly attended, how do we rally the troops to really show that we care and we are against these actions?

Unfortunately it seems like most people either have the mentality that it's not going to affect them or they just don't give a fawk . Not sure which but either way we're fawked unless people stand up and fight to keep our riding /random camping areas open. Castle parks is just the beginning. We have to do everything we can to put a stop to the ndp

Perhaps some sort of public service announcement letting the public know about government support for Y2Y and what it means to industry, oil pipelines, and recreation?

I think this might work, if we can somehow engage Oil and Gas companies into fighting Y2Y for their own interests it could help the rest of us.

not really a lot an individual can do! but as a group there may be. sure seems to be a bit of apathy here, lethbridge rally was well attended, from what i heard. Calgary had a not bad crowd, could have been better, Edmonton was Dismal. unless everyone of us, sends in e-mails , letters, attends rallies or joins a club, with what is coming down the pipe, off road riding will be history, :twocents:

A "public campaign" for lack of a better term on social media, comments sections etc, incl notely, Phillips berman Y2Y.
Not sayin "make up BS" tell the truth....just sayin 100's of us go hard and expose their agenda for what it is.. Control of crown lands...
You know that strength in numbers thing...
All we gotta do is get up to date on issues pick a date in the near (very) future and start posting...
Hint...set up several "ailiases" before hand..as some will get "sanctioned"....
We need numbers though not 5-10 .... Hundreds +++++

Honestly , at this point it's clear the NDP will do as they please, all be it regardless of how much social media pressure we put forth ...
I would be willing to put some $$ & effort into getting a wild rose / cons. Majority government elected ...

That is where our efforts should be concentrated.... they ( NDP) know that we ( ohv 's) will never vote for them .So do you think they will help us out as apposed to the Y2Y people ? Time is becoming an issue now , as they have to motivate the greenies in sufficient #s to get them onside for the next election .
If every member on here through in 50$ & we passed a cheque ( a big one !!) to Brian Jean (?) publicly ....
We would soon have our riding areas back !!
That's what we should be thinking about ....imo.

That would put an end to a myriad of problems , many larger than the ohv community is facing ... sadly !

I would like to see the public backlash if they tried to close another area in Alberta. The vast majority of the public was unaware of what was going on in Castle for quite some time, there are many that still don't know, I think the best is to help keep others informed on what has gone on for when the net land grab occurs. But if this happens again I think the pubic will be much quicker to respond as many are prepared for it.

I think a more holistic approach is necessary. Supporting Wild Rose is definitely an important part but it's equally important to work on our image, expose questionable agendas, inform the public, etc. We are being painted as destructive, spoiled, and now chauvinistic back country tyrants and the general public is listening. Even many OHV users are buying into the greenies campaign against us. People need to know that our sport can be sustainable while generating positive cash flow for the province. People also need to know that we are willing to change with the times. People need to know that a mud hole is not a catastrophic occurrence. ....

Well I agree totally , right now the reason it is headed in this direction is the green movement , initiated by the NDP .
Like any other group we have our bad apples ,,sadly people elected them and they have the power to impose an agenda against us ( and others)
Only a change in government will stop this ....imo

Change in government will be a huge part for sure.... however I agree with Dean, we need to get more public with the "good" that we do.......

I'd love to get a group of OHV people together, pick an area, and go do a cleanup, highway side, or trails or whatever..... take photo's write letters to editors and get the "good side" exposed......

While I agree T , every post I see on social media about sustainability withOHV activity is more often used to point out the damage that is done , rather than the efforts by the majority to do the right thing .
We need a gov that throws funding back to us , and let's us make reasonable & responsible decisions accordingly .
The NDP does not and never will facilitate this . In any agenda , that is an obvious fact ..
They simply " know best" what is good for us ....
This is much , much bigger than simply quads making ruts ...
This is about the direction our government is determined to force us to follow , in ALL walks of life ...
We will not win the PR war with this government , as they simply do not care about anyone else's point of view !
While I agree and understand what you and others are saying , we are wasting a lot of resources arguing with this government , in a fight that we can not win against them .
Showing huge support for the next government , ( voting & $$$) is a sure way to have more say , when the return back to normal democracy arrives....

I agree as well.... its just endlessly frustrating...... Mind you this government doesn't listen to the public on anything they decide to do, so really we aren't the only ones with these frustrations.
