Sorry, but there are some of us that are not FB members. Maybe the link can be made public so everyone can read it.

It’s a bunch of info and not just one article that’s posted on FB.
Reason I had to join FB for this type of thing.
Said I very would but they drag you in . Lol. Just set your setting how you want on FB and no big deal.

We are currently working on an a comprehensive research project covering the issue of access to public lands. Over the coming weeks and months, we will be sharing information and feedback on what we uncover, in hope to increase awareness and unity among all public land users that risk losing access to their treasured recreation activities.
Partnering with other stakeholders, we hope to combine forces and create an effective resistance to the VERY organized, POWERFUL, and EFFECTIVE groups that are EASILY getting their agenda into legislation. After some preliminary research, we have found that despite fervent efforts from many passionate volunteers and interested parties, there is a whole lot more talk than action on our side, and our numbers are way too low to gain the attention of the media and the government. When comparing the number of registered OHV users to those who are active members of clubs, following the AOHVA, or members of groups, it is no wonder this legislation passed under our noses, and no wonder the government laughs at a 17,000 signature petition tabled by Jason Nixon. Townhall meetings, rallies, and other diligent efforts to get people in the fight have yielded unsatisfactory results. Our post with the Go Fund Me page for AOHVA has been reaching hundreds of people, and it is great to see donations starting to come in. If you can donate, it is much appreciated and every dollar counts. Without a unified and powerful voice, it is no wonder these groups are making a laughing stock of us. We are losing the PR battle. Article after article, study after study, news report after news report all paint a picture like we are a bunch of villains wrecking the environment, when we ALL know this is not the case. Then some people post pictures tearing up the land, we have people burning cars in Mclean Creek, unecessary forest fires, garbage left all over the place, etc. These are all fuelling the fire that is burning against our efforts. Although it is the minority's of people doing these things, we all get painted with the same brush. YES we need to manage REAL challenges to sustainable and responsible use. YES we need bridges over waterways. Yes we need to maintain trails. YES we need to share access with ALL users, and Yes, some trails likely should be closed down or re-routed. BUT, our blunder of a support group to organizations like AOHVA has made it easy for the lobby groups to use their science and the media to justify their agenda to kick you out of your back yard. And this is only beginning! If you are unwilling to dig in your heels and contribute time, some money, volunteer work, writing the government, or whatever you can, then you might as well sell your OHV and camper, and buy a bicycle and a back pack! Hunters, fishermen, random campers, etc., don't think this only applies to OHV use. Over the coming weeks and months you will be presented with information that will show you the bigger picture of what is really going on here. I encourage you all to follow us and other groups fighting for this cause. Help us grow in numbers and strength so we can fight for our way of life. Feel free to share pertinent information with us and others so we can gain adequate representation. Thank you, and we look forward to partnering with you on this worthy battle.

I don't know how to make it public, it is a link to the page, which is full of articles and posts from a variety of angles. I am the page manager, and can assure you that we are heavily involved in getting things done. Within 1 hour of our post on Backcountry Hunters and Anglers, their comments were turned off their page. AOHVA also posted about this, and tonight Kevin Van Tighem posted a big rant on his facebook page. We are gaining in effectiveness.

The coalition is expanding to groups in Idaho, Montana, BC, and hopefully Yukon. We are representing OHV users, hunting and fishing, camping folks, and all users that have a stake in this.

Your support in sharing info, and taking proactive steps as we suggest them is paramount to our success.

We hope to hear from anyone with solid info on this. Some of the best info we dug up was on this forum. Great work Everyone!!!

Getting ohv dealers, parts/accessories suppliers, outfitters and even the manufacturers on board, would sure make an impact!!!

We are trying to get every land user on board. I wish the OHV manufacturers would help more. Too hot politically. Grassroots efforts will win this battle. Local business owners and the tourism industry in areas like Crowsnest, Nanton, Claresholm, Nordegg, Caroline, Rocky, etc. will be affected. Getting people and small businesses in these areas and all areas targeted is essential. Like, follow, and share our page. Help spread proper education and get plugged in to an active mission in your area. We will have lots of battlegrounds. Right now the Bighorn area needs our help to stop the Wildland Park. We also need to work to improve the situation in Castle, Livingstone, Porcupine Hills, and all of our partner areas in BC, Alberta, Idaho, Montana and more.

Hope this link works. Feel free to repost if there’s a better category for it.

Might be a long shot but maybe this kind of info could show the gov’t is trying to shut down “our” health clubs since they seem to want to promote healthy living.

Jason Nixon on with Danielle Smith tomorrow at 10:00 am regarding Bighorn land use issues. I think it’s AM770 in Calgary and AM630 in Edmonton. Correct me if I’m wrong.

i know several people that voted for ndpee, and some are s&m members.... But they're not voting for them again. Ndpee will get their 25% of voters as usual, but hopefully the majority doesn't split their vote again and allow an accidental govt again!!!

The only reason the NDP won the election in 2015 was due to the right wing vote split. There where lots of ridings in Calgary the NDP won due to the split.

Just bringing back a new thread, Ron H says this is pertinent to the current events, perhaps we should all spread this across social media at this time?

Re: Y2Y Founder & Shannon Phillips public meeting to discuss more trail closures..

Folks, this was posted on Facebook. This is not fake news, but was overheard at next table by a concerned Albertan.

Today was a very sad, yet enlightening day for me. Also very timely given the post yesterday by Bryan Lichfield regarding the Yukon to Yellowstone (Y2Y) group.
This morning I was sitting with my family having Easter breakfast at Stella's diner in downtown Lethbridge. Lo and behold who should walk in, but everyone's favorite hypocrite, lie to her constituents, Lethbridge MLA and environment minister Shannon Phillips. She sat down at a table 3 feet from me.
Even more interesting was who she was with. She was with Harvey Locke, the founder of Y2Y and his wife Marie-Eve Marchand. If you are not familiar with these people, Google search them. You'll be very enlightened. If you have never met Mr. Locke, he loves to hear himself speak……. Loudly. This proved to be beneficial because I (and the rest of the restaurant) could clearly hear most of their conversation.
Mr. Locke had a map laid out in plain view on the table in a public restaurant for all to see. He was showing Shannon the map, pointing to areas, and telling her that trails need to be closed and access restricted because these were traditional Buffalo migratory paths and breeding grounds. The area on the map looked to me like either the Porcupine Hills or the Livingston Range because it was long and thin. It was definitely not the castle area.
They talked for quite a while, and in Shannon's defence Locke did 90% of the talking. Shannon was just looking at the map, smiling and nodding her head.
Then the scariest words of all were uttered, Locke turned to Shannon and said “now all we have to do is get you reelected” and their entire table burst out laughing.
Up until this moment I actually thought we had a chance to make a difference. I filled out my survey, I went to the public meetings and protests, and diligently wrote more letters than I can count. I realized today it was all for naught. These are Shannon's friends and they are her beliefs. She was an environmental activist before she was elected and will continue to be. We can protest and make white noise all we want but she will not change her mind. The Castle Park is happening and it would appear there are more closures to come.
People…….. we have lost the battle. We need to accept that and refocus our efforts on how we can now win the war.
We need to abandon the notion that they're listening to us. We need to accept the fact that despite them making it seem like we have a voice, we do not. They are not listening and we cannot change this governments mind. Instead we must devote our time and energy into changing the government itself. We need to transition from “protesters” into “campaigners” and ensure that come election time, the NDP are removed from power and replaced by someone more sympathetic to our way of life.
I attached a couple pictures I took. Shannon is the one in the yellow scarf. Im kicking myself for not trying to get a picture of the map.
Please share this post. We may have lost the castle (for now) but hopefully this knowledge can help some of our OHV friends elsewhere from also losing their riding area.
