Definitley a possibility of this creeping Northward as well if unchallenged. My quick review of the map shows that once this area is off limits for OHV, then theonly area left between the Banff and Jasper parks is the Cataract Creek and Maclean areas. Might as well give them a battle now. I still believe we can develope world class trails with minimal footprints. I flyfish throughout this area and alot can be done with trail routing, bridges, contouring, and sediment traps to keep streams clean. All folks have to stay on the trails though...

Way of the future in most areas. What about fly fisherman in the water stirring up silt? Just saying it as a impact like OHV and cattle. Where does it end?

Or the thousands of acres of logging trails just past outwest , for example ...
More damage than atvs could do Ina hundred years ...!

The plan is that the NDP is going to buy out the leases of the logging companies and oil companies in yhese areas also. Guess how much tax $$$$$$$ that's going to be!

Are they using our carbon tax to pay for it?

Like I have said for years " don`t post pictures of atv`s,quads, UTV`s , etc. riding in these areav on the net. Gives the greenies more power against.

Sure we should try to stay on the trail whenever we can but in some places there is no trail and you see the pictures above... So now the grass has been worn down to some dirt and mud and of course there's some low-lying areas just like everywhere else in the forest so now we see a puddle. Tell me how this is any different than when you walk into the bush and you see where animals have a watering hole??? The whole area is always tore to $hit by hoof prints and the water is always muddy looking yet they go there all the time to drink out of it and it's totally natural there's no ATVs that put that there it is all natural!!

The whole ATV community has to get off this big kick of thinking we are just destroying the earth every time we turn a little bit of topsoil upside down. Talk about being brainwashed....
I'm all for staying on the trail and staying out of the waterways when we can and bridges being built but let's not get stupid every time we see a little bit of earth that has turn to dirt from an ATV. How was it any different then a ditch on the side of a muddy gravel road but just flows into waterways at least this water that is running down the trail usually just dumps into a low-lying area and it filters itself through the ground naturally. If the government would take our registration dollars and actually put some money towards our sport we would be able to repair a lot of the erosion spots I don't think we're looking for a paved highway through the bush to ride ATVs on now are we?

You can't convince me that ATVs are wrecking the earth after seeing what goes on at a coal mine and watching the animals thrive better than they do in Jasper national Park!!

The mining companies literally dig up a creek and relocate it to somewhere else and that does far more damage than an ATV ever will driving around the back country. We need to start standing up for ourselves instead of bowing down and acting like we are such a bunch of renegades.

The castle area is probably the finest example in Alberta of a responsible trail system with all the bridges they have yet the government is still shutting that down so it's gonna be really easy for them to shut the rest of the slopes down we need to shut these enviro a$$holes down now because they are terrorizing our way of life.

Then enviromental groups are just using grizzly bears and water as an excuse to make it a park so that the government/business leaders can come in and build infrastructure and make a bunch of money off of us.
They keep saying the bears are endangered and it is so untrue everywhere I go now I see grizzly tracks that I never used to see 10 years ago. And to make matters worse the bears are not scared of people so the chance of bear attacks as well as people shooting bears just keeps going up.

Bottom line the government needs to start recognizing our sport and supporting us. Hiking trails get maintained, mountain biking trails get maintained but where is our government support for our ATV trails? Mountain bikers and hikers don't have to pay registration fees on their bicycles or there shoes yet my tax dollars goes to maintaining trails for them both AND I have to pay registration every year on all of my OHV's!!

We really need to band together here people. Everybody from coast-to-coast should get together so we can continue to enjoy our sport.

One other thing I might add is when I see those pictures and I see an overhead view of the bush and you can see where the main trail is but then you also see another 20 trails on either side of the main trail there's a reason for that. The reason isn't because everybody is trying to hit the mud holes the reason is because they're trying to avoid the mud hence the reason there are all these little side trails that go around the mud.
If we had the funding to put bridges in I'm sure everybody would be a lot happier to just go over a bridge rather than spend five hours in a mudhole.
Take our registration dollars that we all pay for OHV's and put that money towards our trails and we won't have environmental issues.

Half these pictures are of guys in the states mud racing .....lol
A "greenie "can pull up a pic of quads ripping up places all over the world !
It is and should be irrelevant to the process to regulate crown land fairly ...!

There are rules to deal with that in place already ...
If you think tree hikers will go away because we post less pics in Alberta , you are mistaken.....
Most enviro hippies would not know the difference between a cat clearing brush or a stuck sled !
They want ZERO motorized activity on crown land ... No matter what the circumstances.

Some of those photos are of McLean Creek. It's not so much the OHV's doing the damage as it is the full size 4x4's in that area. But when you shut down all the other areas for those guys to go the other areas get overwhelmed.

The only way to cure that is have designated 4x4 "mud pits" where they can have all the fun they want in a controlled section but that is too boring for many of the guys.


Would anyone support a pay per use for the PLUZ zones? A seasonal membership that %100 goes back to that PLUZ for area reclamation and trail improvements? Our registration doesn't provide enough obviously. If people don't ride the PLUZ area then they aren't going to need to pay. We pay huge money to snowmobile clubs for trail improvement, grooming, warming cabins, helps clubs fight for our riding areas and such.
