Just thinking if anyone is out random camping in the next while.

Since riding is not allowed.

It might be a good idea to go for a walk around the camp area in the trees and trails

Take a trash bag and do some clean up.

A walk might be good for you too.

The Calgary ATV Riders is hosting their Annual Stewardship Days on June 4th and 5th in the Ghost PLUZ. Here are the details. Please let us know if you would like to attend.

The Calgary ATV Riders Association is requesting your support as a volunteer to help with trail work during our annual stewardship days June 4 & 5, 2016.
Join us in the back country for two full days of volunteering. Help maintain the trails you ride! Volunteer for 1 or 2 days

Orientation will start each morning at 8:30 am he Waiparous Creek Group Campground. All volunteers are required to attend the orientation.

During this year’s stewardship event the club will be once again working with Environment and Parks (formerly SRD) towards creating a long term solution to never ending issue of “keeping the wheels out of the water”. The club will be working on one and possibly two trail reroutes which will enable the placement of permanent bridge crossings to help maintain the trail system for generations.

Anyone can partake in the stewardship days. Tasks are of varying degree of difficulty. From planting and cutting willows, bridge repairs, trail widening and narrowing to heavy machine reroutes. Anyone can volunteer their time.
The club will require a couple of volunteers to help cook and serve for all the hungry volunteers at the end of the day Saturday as well. (please let me know if you are willing to help in this capacity).

The BBQ will be on Saturday evening for all volunteers compliments of the Calgary ATV Riders Association.

Projects will include but not limited to the following:

· Wing Wall repair near South Ghost staging area (2-5 ppl)
· Trail turns widening for SXS”s if needed at the South staging area (2-5 ppl)
· Narrowing of single track/dirt bike trail that connects marker 87 to 85 (3-5 ppl)
· Heavy machine reroute north of marker 93 (2-5 ppl)
· Heavy machine reroute west of Waiparous Creek Campground to marker 87 (2-5 ppl)
· General willow cutting (any number of ppl)
· Willow staking at bridge just north of marker 77 (5-7 ppl)
· Willow staking at bridge over Lost Knife Creek and bridge repair (5-10 ppl)
· Willow staking at trail maintenance at large meadow south of marker 89 (10-20 ppl)
· Placement of Quad Matting throughout the Southern end of the Ghost. (8-12 ppl)
· If you know of a trail that requires repair due to it being unsafe please email me so we can ensure it is repaired during this volunteer weekend.

The club has 45 sections of quad matting that have been donated by the Eastern Slopes ATV Society to use for trail hardening and we hope to use it all. We are looking for volunteers to help with these projects as well as heavy equipment operators willing to donate their time and equipment to help us get as much work done as possible in the two short days we have. All permits have been secured to allow the work to be commenced.

We hope you will be able to attend and make our riding area more sustainable and safe for all riders.

Please let me know if you would like to attend.

Anybody know of ohv clubs in the bonnyville area or near big river/debden sk? I'd love to help out with some organized trail work, but most of what I've seen posted is for Western ab and I don't get out there much.

Did some general tidying and got rid of a few trees on the little trail system I do most my riding on. Saw a few other groups in the area for the first time in 2 years. Some were having a fire and lunch by the creek so hopefully there's no leftover mess when I'm back out in a couple weeks. There's one spot I can always count on to have garbage and empties laying around and it gets frustrating because no matter how many times my son and I clean it up the mess just returns later. I've never actually seen anyone at this spot but I'd love to so i can ask wtf they're thinking.

It seems frustrating at times since its an on going thing.

The many of us that do this clean up and trail repair do it since it adds quality to the sport.

Over whelmed at times, but it goes way once things play out.

Pat our selves on the back as we share this with many others in our travels.

The reward of good stewardship will come back to us in ways we would never expect.

That alone should put a smile on ones face with happy Gilmore dreams.

Kood-s to one and all !!!
