I was away from S&M for a short stint, but a new ride of 4 wheels ended up under the Christmas tree this year.

Game plan is too repair old riding area along the Foot-Hills since it had time too grow over with buck-brush, fallen down trees, punched out mud holes, and odd bags of garbage that fell out of the sky !

It will be easy to cleaning up small riding areas that we can enjoy in our own travels, plus it shows that we all take owner ship of areas that could use our help. A small jester on our part since a bit of gas in the quad, chain saw, shovel to fill in holes, and a few hours here and there will make a "huge or small" impact towards our sport we all par-take in.

I will up-date the before & after of each project with photos over the following days and months as the clean-up gets under-way...

If any of our other S&M fans would like to share their own under-taking of Clean-Up Season, then please feel free at any time to chime in with their own projects...

A lasting impact of no impact is miles of quality trails in the West lands of healthy trees with out see garbage laying around, so hats off to the many of you for doing your part over the years.

Proud too be back, Pal Lem

Perhaps, you might like to post up where/when you're going, as I'm sure there are a LOT of "us" that would be interested to get out and help wherever "we" can.

Good idea EX as you are so correct that many of us out-door folk would enjoy pitching for an hour or two, then take in the rest of the of it by doing some site-seeing, after-noon lunch by a creek to roast up a few smokey-dogs over a bone-fire.

And chance to meet "like minded individuals" with the same passion for our sport,,, it would be cool to share in some maintenance/ repair ideas that we can post and share with others on the form as they might want to do the same around their neck of the woods.

My new quad will remain stock, so it would be nice to touch up small sections for others as well as my self so we can bring the younger kids out with their units to join in on good times...

I hear from my friends that they are tired of getting stuck, and that a few of the areas we used to ride need fixing so they can bring their kids along with out worrying about them getting up-ended in the technical sections,,, "the real bad spots" that can be fixed up with small maintenance. The youngers will see first hand how we can fix terrain with simple skills, and see how we pick up left over debree that keeps the land in pristine condition for others/ and them as selves.

A win win when we do our part in life's travels at home and crown lands that we "all" get to share... Good Stewarts with posts & pictures to show that us out-door folks take pride in our sport every where we ride.

If the thread idea takes off with good deeds, then we improve our foot print in the years to follow.

Here is a good example of doing my part this spring since this camper fell out of the sky and landed along the edges of a small lake out West, there is no scene in getting flustered over someone's wrong doing, nor is it worth calling SR since the blame could be put on camp site pigs.

Even worse is if the powers that be "could or would" shut the doors too this riding area, so better to deal with the clean up since it won't take much to winch it off the shore line and haul it away.

It might be wiser to post falling sky debree that is "non quad related" to limit folks from reading into this thread the wrong way, and we can add good value to our out-door brothers & sisters that use this lands with full respect...

This incident is human activated "NON QUAD RELATED" since the tracks are from a dual wheeled 1 ton, and will be addressed by good ohv do'ers like our selves.

Plan is to show us in action cleaning & protecting the many miles of crown lands as well as water-ways so we are able to ride for years to come.
Pal Lem

PS: If any of you have done good deeds over the years, feel free at posting pictures or a write up on any actions that took place as it is a group thread for all to share in. Out-door quad folks are good people that are more then will to do what needs doing.

See this all the time. Couches, chairs, canopies, oil pails and the kitchen sink. Gets worse if the local dump charges a fee.

How true it is on the Canadian waist land stuff that is happening here and there in the odd spot, so knowing it doesn't have to remain that way gives us a chance as out-door quad folks to make things right...

I for one can't do it alone since I have a limited range from Lacombe AB West to Nordegg, so the plan is to tackle what I can with helpful feed back from those that chime in on this thread or PM me personally so I can figure out what action I can do too clean it up with some help with other awesome out-door quad folk like the many of you...

Guess I was raised as a can do dude with respect for one another as well as the land we have,,, lots of us feel and think the same way I guess... If there is time to touch up the odd trail that could use repair, I'm sure there will be time to clean up the view as well.

I will post up a ride if some want to join in for a relaxing ride, simple clean up of a trail for a few hours, smokey-dog bone fire meal, then top it off with a easy going trail ride too make a day of it... 40 minutes from Lacombe, 50 from Red Deer.

What better way to give back too home land Alberta as she would appreciate our help when we can...

Pal Lem

PS: This could be any where in Alberta or other places, so chime in with ideas on how we can tackle this dabree or trail repair since each of us can tackle small areas that each of us ride. If not for you, then for our brothers & sister that come to visit, as they will share in this passion with many others that do not spend time in the great out-doors...
We are good people, and we now have a thread to prove it when things get under way with warmer temps soon to come.

about 300 of us get together in the crowsnest at blairmore in may of every year and do trail cleanup, clear trails, build bridges, clean the shelters and pick garbage.we find some weird stuff people like to leave behind.they call it stewardship day and they give us breakfast and at the end of the day they have burgers and prizes.

Good work everyone.

A few years ago we came across a large mess to clean up also.

We try just clean up spots as we see them, it all helps.

WOW, now that's awesome papajake, and I like the sound of it !

I heard the Rocky Mt House ATV riders go out to Humming Bird/ Onion Lake area to fix up trails that our little Lacombe, Sylvan Lk, Red Deer "and area folks" would like to join in on for trail repair/fix 2016. I'll find out the date and post it for those interested.

My plan is to work at closer to hwy 22/53 on some of the old cut-lines that have fallen down trees, many of the cut-lines that are cut-across trails to oil roads that are friendly with stock tire units and younger chittlins can join in on with smaller units... Work a few hours, then relax with bone-fire lunch, and a planned ride too see first hand how all the roads link up along the East side of North Saskatchewan River N & S too rap up the day,,, it only makes sense too get in more riding then work as it is more of a share with others over a long time frame. Ha.

Very family friendly area if we patch up some of the holes and odd small creek crossing, more like patch work of giving back to what it was when I first went out there 35 years ago... Ha Ha... I think I might be one of those old farts now, so time to fill the holes by shovel and swing chain saw well I can !!!

Thanks for the feed back everyone as it is well worth sharing this idea of ATV clean up as it gives back to all of us that shows that we have been respectful to our lands for many years, and will continue too for many more.

Will do papajake.

Yuppers Arff, the thread worked, and what a mess !!!

It ticks folks off to see this as it seems like an attack on the west lands, so we get stuck looking after camp site pig's issues since it will happen this year in a different part of Alberta or other Provinces.

Had I come across that S*** show, I would of taken photos, then bone fire clean up,,, bag and pack out the hard stuff once I flattened things out with my hammer/ axe so it wouldn't take up much room.

At least I would game plan removal on my next outing with my truck and quad, trailer if need be.

Awesome to see what we ATV folk are up against Arff.
