there is an area i want to sled to that is accessed at the bottom of a ski hill. the ski hill has given me a letter about how they have a controlled recreation area which states=

CONTROLLED RECREATION AREA

Definition

A Controlled Recreation Area license of occupation is the legal mechanism that gives the right to the Developer to control access and use by other persons within the defined boundaries of the CRA. The CRA enables the Developer to:

 • Establish and delineate a recreation area boundary within the CRA and designate that boundary by notices, posted signs, fences or otherwise.
 • Regulate and prohibit the access & entry of persons & vehicles to the CRA
 • Control, prohibit and direct the movement and activities of persons and vehicles with the CRA, and:
 • Take trespass action against persons who are in non-compliance with the above
Application

Non-motorized use such as hiking and biking is welcome.
Motorized vehicles including snowmobiles, motorcycles, all-terrain vehicles, cars and trucks are not permitted within the Mountain Resort Controlled Recreation Area.
Any persons entering this area for the purpose of motorized recreation will be considered trespassers within the resort CRA.
Hunting, trapping, and shooting activities are also not permitted within the CRA.

the thing is that a snowmobile tour buisness also has this area listed on their webside and shows a map which crosses the cra. it also states they have a 30 yr tenure to use this area. the snowmobile buisness has not guided or used this trail for about 10 yrs and only a few locals use it. so how does this all work? i have been warned and dont want to get my season pass at the resort revoked as well. im also a home owner at the resort.

thanks for any input.

Which hill? All the ones I have ridden at have dedicated routes for sled access to the motorized areas. It has often taken a lot of work and agreements between the two groups though.

i dont really want to say which hill. there is another designated area very close to the hill, but if i just cross one cross country ski trail i can access a huge area 10 times the size.
