I have zero problem with there being cat and heli ski operations, but the one problem that I do have with some of them is they think they own the land and can kick us off. I’ve done alot of research on this and to my understanding the only tenure that we can forced to leave off of is a exclusive tenure, but the government doesn’t easily hand the exclusive out. The only exclusives that I know of are on private land not crown. We can be told to leave on those, but on those others it’s more too be respectful.
The two operations that I know the owners on cat and the other a heli both know that their tenures on crownland are spots where we sled and all what they have asked is not too tear up their ski runs after a good snow fall and to ride slow on the cat roads. The exclusive is just around their lodge.
At least that is what I’ve been told.

Correct. SWS is the only operation with exclusive rights in the province that I know of. It is progressively getting worse up there. The boundaries laid out when they first got exclusive rights seems to be expanding with more "no snowmobile" signs in areas where their exclusive area isn't. Lots of these areas aren't very skiable. Problem is the mapping for their area is very vague and they use it to their advantage.

As a club we try to work with them so everybody gets a piece of the pie. They do groom the trail up for us once and awhile as part of a gentlemen's agreement. Understandably if your clients pay top dollar, last thing they want to see and hear are sleds.
