Anyone been up the west side to Elk Lakes. Looking for an easy ride with some new riders?

It's plowed, they are logging the west side. You could go up the east side tho, just park where the new recycling bins are. You might even enjoy going up the lookout, there's signs marking it. That east road will get you up to the lakes as wel

The snow is better with the recent re-loads but not nearly as good as in Fernie. There is more facetted snow under the heavy crust and that facetted snow goes pretty much to the dirt. Still lots of rocks above Mear Lake and rocks showing that I have never seen this time of year. We had some untracked tree riding and as long as one was on the supportive snow it was good. Just a pita when one broke through the supportive snow. The grooming program needs to be picked up quite a bit as the trail is rough.

Was this the one that was left on the west side of the Koko trail down towards the Bull River FSR?
If so it was still there in early July, albeit missing some pieces......
