The Corbin Country Club was amalgamated with the Fernie club a few years ago. It is one organization now. So all the old Corbin trails are now under the umbrella of the FSA. All those trails are open and apparently, there is no logging in Corbin this year. Study the maps on the website and ask a lot of questions. You can ride from Corbin to the heart of the Fernie Clubs' tenure. As stated above, without the FSA being able to groom due to the logging roads being plowed, the Corbin access may be quite rough.
HaHa! Its always rough unless there is 2 ft of freshy overnight.

So how’s the snow looking up top?

Took the ol trail fire out up coal Creek today.
Staged at Paige's, since the road is plowed around the bend.
On the way down, dam near ran over three donkeys riding sleds up. Met them just past the bridge above the switch back.
If people are going to ride that far on a plowed road, at least have the brains to wave, and remember that vehicles have the right of way.
I've come out of the bush, and road on a plowed road for a bit until we could get off. We've moved over and stopped for vehicles. It can be done.
What made.it.even better, was to see it was a local to Fernie business and another truck with BC plates in the staging area . Funny we always here it's those dirty burtans that wreck it for everyone else

Thanks for the post

As far as Corbin area goes ,are there trials that are good for novice riders to gain experience? Is the area full of avalanche risks or is there just areas to stay away from that we can identify from the maps. What would be a good couple hour cruise route be from staging area at Corbin.

Thanks in advance,

There is a valve station on the Corbin road about 2/3 the way to the town from the #3. This is called the Tin Shack. It will hook up with the pipeline if they are not plowing the road. You can also go to Coal Creek road. It can be low snow for quite a while.

The Corbin Townsite has basically one trail. There are a few areas you can access but Avalanche danger is something to be aware of. They are also not clearly marked. You can also get over to the Fernie system but need to know where you are going and pack fuel for sure.

Unless you know where you are going you aren't going to have much fun, it will be a road ride.

Thanks for taking the time to help out. Looking at the maps how about Morrissey unloading area ? Is that a better option for novice riders being it’s groomed trails ? How high are the avalanche risks on the groomed trails in that part of the woods

Hoping to get out this Thurs or Friday and just looking for a family friendly place to rip around a bit

thanks again

FYI both Coal Creek and Morrissey are family friendly. There is a great loop around the Coal Summit accessible from either staging area and that is also very family friendly. This loop includes 2 warm-up shelters. Grooming is done from both staging areas and in between the two shelters. Grooming is excellent BTW. You have one problem for the short term; Morrissey is also plowed for logging right now. I think Lucky 7 mentioned something in one of his earlier posts in this thread. Good luck and enjoy.

It's getting there.
There's a solid 3' over 5500'. Seems like a really nice base. Road ride for sure.
I'd still be a little leary of off trail, bit if you knew the area, you could likely have some fun.
Headed back up this weekend to get a better feel of things

Not open. Last word from the club is the pipeline guys will be done on the 15th, then they will help the club push the berms back on the road and our groomer will get to work. They are thinking 2-3 days of work
Anyone know if Morrissey trail is open yet.

How’s the snow now?

I was out for a quick first ride of the season Saturday afternoon and I can say there is not that much around Harvey pass...not much snow below 6000 ft and around a meter of good consolidated snow at 7000 ft. I'm not sure about the rest of the area but I'm thinking it's still pretty thin everywhere.

Well next 2 weeks look promising at least. Really hoping to get out before the 30th as I won't have a chance after that!!

Did it snow down in the Corbin/pipeline area this week? The forecast had lots in at one time but they backed it way off.
