Snowing pretty hard in town right now...the grass in our yard may finally get covered up.

Fireworks in the snowstorm tonight might be pretty cool...or it will be a bust.

Got about 4” in elkford and about the same at 6000’. Should help the trail a bit.

Rode Tuesday and Wednesday. Visibility was on and off, mostly off. Snow is still thin but getting better. They got a pretty good amount overnight Tuesday night and that helped a lot.
Didn't save us from carnage though :(
Was great to get back out, my first ride of the season.
Lots of fun to be had just be careful. Shane stripped off his suspension, luckily very close to the trail. He's a trooper and rode it out that way haha.

Any updates from today? Anyone know if access to the pipeline from the Corbin road is ok? Or how Corbin is?

corbin rough ,rough. the fernie club is lacking in their efforts at corbin this year. Very sad. Still waiting for a saftey cabin at rain gauge that was promised 2 years ago.

The club does have a groomer that has been down for a few days and is getting worked on and there seems to be a lack of volunteers right now.

Well, to answer my own question: you can ride from the tin shack up the pipeline. Boy is it thin at the bottom but enough. Gets better as you go but not normal. Everything is wind affected and settled but a reset looks like it's coming. We only passed by the Rolling hills so can't comment on that. Everyone hit something, only two got damage.

Did you go in around the notch?

Rode Morrisey Friday to the notch and trail is brutal . Snow is skinny up top at the notch and wind blown even down below . Snow was better down towards the cabin and probably better in the rolling hills. They should let you know the groomer is broke down but gladly collect the money .

Some of our group today had never rode Fernie so went up to the notch to show the view. Then dropped south and up to the next plateau and messed around there some. Found some soft stuff in a drainage we probably shouldn't have gone down but it kept us entertained for a bit trying to get out.

Our group has a rule...never explore downhill.

We seem to break that rule all the time. Lol.

That's a very good rule and one l try to live by especially if the line is hidden or obscured. In this case it was just a little bit steep and tight for the greener riders. Part of their learning curve. Nothing that was ever going to be a real problem.
