I saw a FernieSnow getting his fix at the Husky this morning. He must be up there getting a tan today.

Ha, ha, ha................Smitty's just opened after a winter of renovations. Couldn't for the life of me figure why they would renovate in the winter. Summer must be a slower time of the year for them. Pancakes/berries/whipped cream (no doubt it was fake) with a couple sunny side up eggs and some sausages was great to start the day.

Spent the day at the Notch with some Flatlanders yesterday. Staged at Morrissey and staging is still great; have to use the small trail as there is no snow on the road. No dirt showing on the trail when we went up nor when we came down. The road into Coal Creek is rough and the parking is on wood chips. Their was no dirt showing on the section past the kiosk. The main trails are in awesome shape and beautifully groomed all the way to the Notch. The snow is definitely starting to sink and there were rocks showing and some just below the surface that weren't showing but are now. The untracked is pretty well set up and it is definitely hero, go anywhere snow. Apparently, the snow on the roof of the Wranglers slid on Saturday but just as we pulled up another section slid. The chimney is buried in the pile of debris. Somebody had lit a fire in the stove (with no exterior chimney if you can imagine) and I threw out the burning sticks and put out the fire. if you are up there, please don't use the stove until the chimney is fixed.

That last pic could have left a mark if a guy was sitting under it. Lol

Trashed some more meadows and treed slopes yesterday. Another beauty of a day with staging at Morrissey. The trail is seeing some dirt and lots of puddles. Late starts are good due to the freeze cycle during the night.

Spent the day in and around Lydel's meadow and the trees won a couple battles. The Pug-Doo was a trailer loading problem and not the fault of a tree. A great day in the trees with climbs and decents on the hero snow.

Another great day in the hills. 3 bluebird days in a row riding in shirt sleeves. The grooming was absolutely excellent and it appeared that even the Notch got a full groom (we didn't ride there yesterday). Rode the East McEvoy yesterday and then for the later part of the afternoon, we were in some shaded trees where the snow wasn't as soft but very enjoyable. The Morrissey trail is holding up good; hard and icy in the morning and soft and wet in the afternoon with occasional puddles.

The boys from the Flatland had a great time in some drainages and loved the Wheelie Wednesday on a glorious Thursday.

It will be interesting when the next little cold snap happens. The snow will be like concrete.

Such a strange winter. Only had 1 day in fernie this year. Just got an 18 Summit. Was hoping for a big snow march to test it out a bit more.

Staged at coal Creek for the first time since 2001. Couldn’t believe the amount it’s changed around there. Last time the rolling hills were kinda off the beaten path area now there’s a trail that runs through it. Don’t think the area around the new cabin was burnt out before either but could be wrong. Hats off to the club for the grooming and the new cabins in the area. Was groomed on the pipeline all the way to the notch then to the north as well. Snow was pounded out and hard packed till it soften up a little later in the day. Low snow there as well. Seen a bob cat coming back to the truck was kinda neat.
