Also just want to add as they are not secrets. Some of these places are access only with proper logging channel radios. DO NOT GO UP THE LOGGING ROAD WITHOUT A RADIO AND PROPER CHANNELS. This will wreck it for everybody that follows the rules.
Thanks

Well.....no it won’t.

Most FSR/RR roads with posted radio channel/frequencies is for radio assist and are not radio controlled and are for those licensed users using two way radios. Not every joe blow road user has a radio and certainly not everyone with a radio has a license. It is not mandatory to have a radio, it is mandatory to have the appropriate license if you intend on transmitting on that radio.

While it may not be mandatory, I believe it shows some poor decision making to be driving on an active Resource Road without a radio.

Just posting accurate info.

It could be bad decision making to exceed the speed limit or not wear your seat belt or not do your helmet strap up and so on.

I never suggested people do or don’t use them.

Just an interesting scenario..........I was out with a buddy today who has been here since 1996. Took him to some honey holes within 5 km from the cabin and he didn't have a clue that this type of riding was there. It was a surprise to him. The Mrs. Ferniesnow was a little afraid to keep on the throttle and run over that little tree. I had a good laugh.

I have named a zone in the Rolling Hills in Fernie as "the OLE meadows". I came across this tree and carving in the fall of 2011 when I was doing the preliminary planning for the Doug Dean Trail. A long story, but a few years ago, I sold a skimmer to a guy (d8grandpa on here) and one thing led to another. The name was placed on the tree in the early 1990's by Ole Jensen. The two of them used to ride the area back in the day. I can just imagine the work it took to get into those places back then. I have introduced many riders to the zone over the years and it is a great place to hang out and ride.

Not secret to some, sure...but to many on here they have never heard of any of those places and now will be curious to explore. Some things are better left unsaid on the internet. Been reaping the rewards of pushing into new zones for years. Broke into a new one this February out in the west koots. We were the only people in the zone on sat/sun of family day weekend, blower pow all weekend! The point of it all is don't out right advertise locations, let people figure them out for themselves. Half the fun is google earthing, summer exploring, and trying to figure it out.

Doo you have gps coordinates? Sounds good...

Doug, is Jerome's cabin/warm up shelter still standing? Back in the 80's it was still standing on the east side of the Flathead trail just past the turn off to the monkey chute which was the back way into the lakes.

OK. Someone goes up that road without a radio and gets killed by a logging truck coming down, do you think the logging company isn’t going to try put a stop to Sledders driving up that road. It’s not my problem or any body that enjoys this part of fernies problem that people don’t have radios. Spend the money and buy a radio or don’t go. There is also a massive sign at a part of Lodgepole that says do not proceed without a radio. It’s a embarrassment that you would put anybodys life at risk because your to selfish to not abide by the standards.

Is this a response to my post? Because if it is the only embarrassing thing I see is your post. Lol

But just to clarify, since it’s obviously so important to you...

I haven’t put anyone’s life at risk. I posted the actual laws, not the ones you formulated through your opinion. I also did not say don’t bother with a radio.

Clearly I am selfish by providing factual information so people can educated themselves. So often people just post inaccurate info leading to confusing and misleading situations.

I do “abide” by the standards when required to do so. If a road is posted and radio use is mandatory I would not use the road unless I had a radio. I happen to have radios, that’s plural, as I have more than one. I also have various radio operator licences, again plural and take radio use very serious, it’s required in my every day employment.

But thanks tips, glad you saved that bus load of uneducated back country users from plummeting over the edge of a cliff because the oncoming logging truck was going to run them over resulting in the back country closures of all the logging roads in the Kootenay’s.

Next time respond with fact and not emotion if you want to be taken serious.

Do you guys ever look up at the stars and wonder what the hell we did before we could argue about useless crap on the internet? Oh Ya.. We went to the pub after sledding and looked a guy in the eye and if we still had a problem after it was parking lot time. Just send each other pics of your junk and see who's is bigger and quit bitching here. Gosh.

If you are not part of the solution you are part of the problem.

So I’m giving all non educated information. You have no idea about the education I do or don’t have. Ya I answered with emotion because I have a family at home and want to see them after a day of sledding. Someone going up that road without a radio could cause a fatal accident. It’s clearly marked on the flathead rd on The way to some of the places mentioned previously. So I never said all logging roads required radios I said this particular one does. You have a radio or radios that’s plural, I’m glad you have multiple radios why do I care? Oooo you have a radio licence watch out for this guy, he has multiple radios and radio licences. Get over yourself hero

If you are going to throw a temper tantrum on the interweb at least quote yourself properly. You never mentioned one particular road, what you said is bolded above and my response was based on that. But sure try and insult me with your foolishness. lol
