I was starting to plan our yearly family snowmobile trip and was thinking of Lumberton trails near Cranbrook. My family consists of myself, wife and two daughter's (14-17 years). I have a few questions if any one might have time to answer if they know that area.

1-Are the trails good for family riding?
2-Is there parking for a crew cab short box truck and 20' enclosed trailer?
3-Snow condition in the middle of Feb?
4-Good place to stay that has room and a safe place to park my gear and that has all the amenities (food, gas, stuff to do). It would be great to be able access stuff without having to drive the truck and trailer everywhere to eat.

My kids love the groomed trails but also like to find a field or someplace to play. I have heard good things about the area but the people giving me the info are not always the best judges.

I would say yes to all your questions but there are two experts on here; moyiesledhead and catinthehat. Both live there and will no doubt pop in and give "real Cranbrook experience".

1 - Yes, all the groomed trails are great family riding. Most of the off trail stuff too. Avy areas are very limited.

2 - Yes, the parking lot is huge.

3 - Excellent

4 - Heritage Inn in Cranbrook. Or Super 8 if the kids want a water slide. Both are central to everything you need. Nowhere in town has a secure compound for vehicles/trailers, but we don't have the same problems with theft as Revy etc.

Enjoy your ride. You'll have lots of fun in Lumberton! Lots of groomed, and lots of off trail stuff too. :D

If you stay at the Super 8 you will have to drive around as it is not really central to anywhere, Heritage Inn has a restaurant, lounge and is also close to other amenities. The other advice I would give you is to carry tire chains especially pulling that size of trailer, while it is rare( the road is usually maintained pretty good) there is always the possibility of icy/slippery conditions. The parking lot is 15 kms from the highway and gains quite a bit of elevation. Enjoy your trip.

Great area to ride. Trails and grooming are the best you'll find. Parking lot is great. Love riding there.

Are they logging up there this year??

I believe the logging should be done by Christmas but will try to find out for sure and repost.

If you stay at any of the hotels on the West side, get something on the front side of the building. The rail road tracks can be annoying. (Sandman, Heritage, Bestwestern.)

Used to be true. Not so much any more since they moved the main rail yard to Fort Steele.

Reports of 3 to 5 feet but not much for a base. Trails are in decent shape most days, lots of sleds every day.

Groomer has been down for a bit, so trails are
now like normal groomed trails
everywhere else.

When guys are grooming on a regular volunteer basis. You will never find better trails.
