Did some internet searching for the Norns but didn't come up with much, Dan or anyone have a link to some trail maps? Typical front trail area then free riding from there?

Check out Dan's site for some great pics of the Norns area

Typical trail riding/cutblocks up to tree line then alpine and bowl riding from there. The club used to have a website but hasn't been up for a year or 2 so don't know of any trail maps. Stick to the groomed trail to the alpine and it's a free for all from there.

I heard they were going to try grooming from Goose ck to Norns (Ladybird side), anyone heard if it's going to happen?

people have been going up ladybird on a daily basis, i have not been up as i was told to wait for the slides. from what i have heard they are just trail riding to the cabin in lady bird. grooming was done last week on thursday i think at the norns shaw cabin trail. creeks are all filled and trail is in very good condition. the rain for the last 3 days has made the lower part of the trail skinny on snow.

Castlegar snowmobile club memberships can be purchased at Playmor Power,( local skidoo dealership )and Castlegar Recreation building, ( Local ice rink and swimming pool, weight room...) only $50, but that price goes up to $60 on Jan.1 2010.... You can also get a membership at the trail head... we've been collecting $10 trail passes and $50 memberships at both the Norns creek side and the Goose creek side... Trail was perfect today... probed 175 cms,,, 6 feet of snow all over the Norns today.. South aspects mostly,, between 6000' and 6500' elevation.. fairly stable snowpack, quite a few natural avalanches occured last week... probed 7 feet of snow at the Ladybird Hut.. 7200' yesterday, gets some wind deposited snow in that area.. North east from the big 7800' ridge...

Sledding is fantasic right now, great base, and still some fresh powder to be found, but it's getting really stomped on the airport and fire rock areas...

Happy New Year everyone

Thanks Dan!

Is there an obvious staging area for the Norn's Creek area? We would be heading out from the Bonnington side of Nelson for a New Years weekend ride and never rode that area. Done lots of quading up near the West side of Arrow, just nothing NW of Castlegar. Otherwise we might hit up the Grover area if we can find snow. Normally we would be heading to Sicamous or Revy but we wanted to try something new this year.

Anyone who can help that is great.

We were able to ride Thursday - Ladybird, Friday - Rover/SnowWater and Saturday - Grizzly. Thanks to everyone we met on the trail and at the Shaw/Ladybird cabins as well as Grizzly. Lots of great people, even though we were socked in with weather we got to ride some great areas. Saturday brought us lots of fresh stuff, better weather and we rode hard all day up Grizzly!

We will be back for sure!
