First off the quad setup.....

Brute is stock bore with Snorkels, HMF Evo exhaust, MSD FI tuner with VForce John tunes, EPI clutching and 29.5 Outlaws

Figured I`d share my end results here with a past project... I was tearing into my brute to swap out the blown rear diff as the primary project, (never again will I help pull a severely stuck sidexside)lol, but I`m very happy with my secondary side project of having to pull the fuel tank and the goofy skid design it sits in out to remove the diff.

Oh ya.... by the way, My quad was purchased used and was in short, not treated to well went it comes to much maintenance or any lack of user abuse by the way :(.

That being said I`ve been playing with a small running issue with it since day one. I finally had the complete wire harness changed to new since the original was a nightmare and had seen better days, new harness was a great idea, but didn`t cure all the running issues yet. To start it, it always requires the fuel pump cycled a few times on the key before it fired up, then at first it will idle alright, but once running for about 5 minutes it always stalls as if running out of fuel or flooding. While riding however it seemed to run pretty well overall. Well since I had the tank out it was time to go through it and check it out.

First I seperated the tank from the skid it sits in a washed eveything up, I was sure surprised at all the mud and rocks in that skid... So I drilled a bunch of 2inch holes in the skid to help the mud wash backout since they do fill right up with the poor factory design and tiny drain holes that just dont drain anything, after that upgrade I cleaned out the fuel tank inside, and wow was there alot of dirt in the tank, no thanks to the tank vent line that runs into the frame right above the tank which when riding in deep mud or water it sucks the dirt right in the tank (very bad design). That vent line now runs up to my handelbar pod with another one way filter on it up there to keep it pulling air from a better location. Then I pulled the fuel pump setup out of the tank and did the swap on the dirty old factory fuel strainer to the 85 Mitsubishi Galant fuel strainer mod, many others have done this mod with only good results. Kawasaki doesn`t offer a replacement so this swap is required unless you want to purchase a complete new fuel pump setup. The new strainer is larger then factory but will fit on the pump and back in the splash guard with some gentle folding.

Once everything was back together and the rear diff was intalled as well, it was time to hit the key and see if I made a improvement, I must say I was thrilled to have it start up much easier after system was re-primed with fuel, and it now idles smooth and no more stalling issue or no sputtering at all either. It also has become very impressive on the crispness of the throttle. So the project was a success to say the least.

Oh the joys of owning a bruteforce.!!
So glad I sold mine.

But sounds like you are maintaining it properly.

Yes the gas vent line going into frame then back out to the bars is stupid, with the deep mud ect

But 80 % of quads never see that and it's fine then
