What are the implications should the fire reach Nabiye, pipes? Like there's not a foreseeable circumstance in which that's not a horribly bad happening,

I suspect the same as CNRL and Cenovus. ESD the pads and Plant, shut in the wells and get out of it's way. Mop up after is gone through. As it stands now. we are still producing and hoping the wind doesn't change.

Holy poop. Hopefully whoever is on the essential crew up there right now is staying so safe.

I'm hoping the wind doesn't change either. Looks like they've got more guys on the fire again tonight. Lac La Biche Area Update

Thanks Dale! This fire has turned me into a gigantic basket case - I can't imagine the CEOs of Cenovus/ CNRL / IOR!

I should go visit that "how many drinks are you down tonight" thread. That might calm my crazy nerves! lol

Has anyone heard any new updates? One of my customers was allowed on the range last night to do some maintenance on the heavy equipment used to fight the fire - he said it's unreal what's been burnt.

This strong south wind wont be helping out at all for CNRL. We got a little rain in lacorey but hopefully theres more rain up north.

Any personnel with information regarding the situation are not media spokespersons for the company and will defer to the proper channels within to release to the public as they see fit. It is what it is. So sit tight and watch/listen/read the local media.

I will say I hope the rain continues to aid in the fire fighters efforts.

Sorry, didn't mean to imply I wanted company secrets, but I just can't possibly read every single news article, press release, AB WildFire bulletin, thought maybe someone had read something I missed! I do realize that most people who would know what is happening up there have been evacuated days ago. Again, like I said, it's scary and fascinating and it's piqued my hunger for knowledge on the subject.

Woah, the wind sure picked up last night and brought hella smoke with it. Woke us up and we had to close all the windows. I don't think it rained here, just smoke and pretty gusty winds.

I forgot to ask, if it's moving southerly does that mean it's moving closer to cold lake and the base? I only ask cause I spoke to a friend from cold lake last night and he was telling me they've had psa announcements to make sure your garden hose reaches the roof and to set a sprinkler up there in case. Obviously we've learned from slave lake but that's intense, the fire is still miles from cold lake? Isn't it?

From what I've seen on maps it doesn't look like the fire has left the bombing range. The range is roughly 30-40km north of hwy 55 (can't remember exactly) so it's still a ways away from town. Plus I'm no expert but the fields around town should be easier to fight fire in then the muskeg and thick bush on the range. I'm by no means an expert though so these are just my assumptions.

That makes sense. I know I sound like a total idiot, but wildfire has never really been on my radar so I'm completely ignorant on the topic -- I'm asking questions to learn!!

It's overcast with 74% humidity! Here's hoping that helps to further slow the growth. It's already been slowed immensely - went from 10,000 hectares to 17,000 in one day, but the last two days have only brought growth of 500 and 2,500 hectares of growth respectively (from what I've read)
